A multiple times denied request

I have been trying to get a poi on my side of the street multiple times using the boat since the apartment complex I live in doesn’t have any social areas and the only other stops/gyms are always on the other side of S.range witch is the busiest intersection in Livingston since it’s coming off an exit to a highway and across the street is a shopping center and up the road is Walmart so what can I do to make the boat more appealing to Niantic so I can get a stop on this side of the street

Hello and Welcome @ElijahRamey

The catamaran does not look an object that would be acceptable as a wayspot.

The fact that there is an object does not mean that it will be something eligible.

There are 3 core criteria around exercising, socialising and exploring. To meet the criteria the place or object should meet one of these and be designed with that criteria in mind.

The boat just looks as though it has been left there and it doesnt have a function. Yes you can and I’m sure some kids play in it, but it was not meant for that.

I short this is a non-starter.

If there is nothing in that area then you have accept that it is what it is. Wayfarer is about finding real life places so that Pokemon Go can be played in real life. And sometimes there is just nothing there.

But if there is somewhere nearby that has got some wayspots there might be the possibility of more so try to improve that area.

I appreciate its a busy intersection but I presume that once you safely cross at the pedestrian controlled part, walking to those other places is easier.

Yes but there’s no crosswalks or sidewalks nearby and image a little kid trying to cross that intersection they could be hit by a car or a school bus or the occasional semi truck that goes trough that intersection so it’s unfit or safe to go out and explore like the game whants me to since the apartment complex doesn’t have any place to interact with other people

The correct response to “it isn’t safe for a small child to play here” is “they shouldn’t be playing there, then”. Creating waypoints where nothing eligible exists is never the solution.

Also, suddenly caring about other people’s imaginary negative experiences, when you are actually just trying to improve your own situation is a bit of a duff move. Similar to all the “But what about the disabled people?!” remarks that able-bodied players came out with when the remote raid passes had their unpopular price-hike a couple years back. Don’t be that person, yeah?

Wayfarer can’t mitigate poor urban design.

What you need to do is make the most of places that you do go to play. It will not be helpful to stare across the other side spending time resenting the fact you can’t go there. Make the most of the parks you can go to.

With what sidewalks both mom and stepdad work so I can’t walk anywhere safely

Unfortunately you then have to wait until there are times you can go out. The game is clear you need to play safely. So that is the priority.

A while back there was a similar discussion about the lack of potential wayspots within safe walking distance for children. Someone here made a good (IMO) suggestion.

Where do you (or people who live where you do) go for entertainment, shopping, leisure activities? Perhaps looks for things to add there. While it won’t be within a safe walk from your home, it will be at a place(s) you already go to for leisure type activities. This isn’t the answer you want, but could be a workable alternative

There is a lake in my backyard where I had seen a kid come fish idk who he was my little sister knew him do you think that would bypass Niantics rules so other players can have a stop here even whenever I move out because the gate is hardly ever locked though pogo doesn’t recognize the lake

I don’t suddenly care about the children I had seen some nearby and a kid today idk if they play pogo but it’s a community pokestop yes I whant it for my own gain but so others can use it as well idk the radius of how far apart pokestops need to be this would be my first ever stop in game

That definitely sounds to be on Single Family Private Residence Property (SFPRP) which is a big No.
The fact that “someone has fished there” does not make it eligible, is there anything there that encourage fishing?

There is no radius, pokemon go uses cells. More info: https://community.wayfarer.scopely.com/t/why-an-accepted-wayspot-may-not-be-used-in-pokemon-go-s2-cells-and-pokemon-go

One of the strongest Wayfarer prohibitions is against wayspots on single family private residential property or farms. Sorry, there is no “bypassing” it.

If it were to get approved and then noticed, it would be removed.

Among other reasons, this goes back almost 10 years to a lawsuit against Pokemon Go and Niantic related to players trespassing on residential property.

It’s not private property is an apartment complex

if the lake is part of an apartment complex, then the location is OK if you have anything that meets criteria.

A lake in itself (especially if it is just a retention pond) won’t meet criteria, but there might be something nearby that does.

There’s nothing to interesting about the pond I would have to wait until around 1pm so the sun is on the other side of my house to take clearer pictures

At least it’s a real pond/lake, not just a retention pond.

A pond in itself is very hard to make a wayspot from, as you need an anchor (something that has a distinct location, as opposed to the pond edge which is necessarily at multiple locations and therefore not distinct by definition) and evidence that people do use the space - this might be a worn path even if it officially marked out.

Are there only gardens around the pond (which are SFPRP)? Or are there any benches where you can enjoy the scenery / view?

There’s a few better photos of the lake where I used part of my hand to block the sun though still nothing of interest

The lack of /anything/ and bits looking like private lakeside make this a difficult submission.

It’s not a private residence it’s an entire apartment complex though the game in-game map doesn’t pickup the lake
