Hoping someone can help me out here because I’m pretty confused.
A couple weeks ago one of my Wayspot nominations (a “Moss Wall” art installation) got rejected and my appeal was denied. I didn’t think much of it. But today I opened Pokémon GO and got a warning for a ToS violation. When I looked into it, the nomination had been flagged for “abuse, ridicule, or harassment of a specific person or group.”
I’m assuming they mean abuse of the system because there was nothing in my submission that would constitute abuse of a person. My submission was a photo and description of a moss wall art piece in my apartment building’s lobby (see attached images below). There’s nothing in it that targets or insults anyone. I’m thinking the initial submission was flagged as ineligible because I zoomed in way too much and it just looks like a generic green plant blob?
For what it’s worth, my partner later took a better photo of the same moss wall and resubmitted it on her account, and that one got accepted. So it seems that the submission clearly fits the Wayfarer criteria in the eyes of some reviewers.
Did you get an email stating that this submission was an example of the reason for the warning? It will explain better what kind of abuse was detected. If you got this email, there is a link there to appeal. If you did not, the warning may not be from Wayfarer.
That statement you referenced is just the way the rejection reason reads when a nomination has been flagged for any kind of abuse, as you figured out. You can see that rejection reason without getting a warning.
Thank you for the response! I actually didn’t receive the email for whatever reason. I contacted Niantic support yesterday to resend the email. However, when I start my app I do get the generic warning pop-up indicating that my account has received a warning and that I should have received some sort of correspondence from Niantic/Scopely.
I guess I’m not 100% certain Wayfarer triggered the warning until I receive the email but there is nothing else that could have triggered it and the timing of the submission rejection/abuse feedback would seem to make sense.
If you havent had emails then it is more likely not to be conected to wayfarer.
Do check all email accounts you have had connected and look in Spam folders.
The staff ( all names start ScopelyExp..) are unlikely to be able to respond until the weekend is over.
It is a warning so do stop to consider any activity that might have triggered it and once established what it is try to learn from it to prevent worse consequenes.
It turns out my Pokémon GO login was tied to an old email that my Facebook was tied to. I no longer have access to that email. I usually just log in through Facebook, so whatever email they normally send along with the warning, I did not receive. I’ve followed up with the Niantic team to resend the email to the gmail linked to my pokemon go account.
There is nothing else on my end that I’ve done differently over the past couple of weeks other than submitting Wayspots that would have triggered the warning so even without the email I’m rather certain that is what did it.
I’ll keep an eye out over the next couple of days and follow up if I hear anything from the staff here. I appreciate you taking the time to explain how it all works!
The email will explain which nomination trigger the warning. But since you dont have access to it, you might need to wait for staff. It might be 1st strike from abuse ladder system. Staff will explain once they come to work in weekday
