Appeal denied because... no sense?

Hi there.

I submitted a Wayspot and it was both not accepted and the appeal was denied for apparently no real reason.

They said in my appeal:

  • " The text or photo contains abuse, ridicule, or harassment of a specific person or group"
I submitted a small religious building. There are a lot of wayspots like that over here. One thing that could potentially be mistakenly considered harmful is the word “Umbanda”. Like, that’s the name of the religion: Umbanda
Or maybe they were talking about one of the deity from that religion, the one they worship on that building, “Cabocla Jurema da Mata”, and her image in the main photo? Cabocla Jurema – Wikipédia, a enciclopédia livre . (you can also Google “Cabocla Jurema”) Or perhaps the word “Cabocla”? That word means “a woman of mixed native Brazilian and white European ancestry”. It’s not a wrong word, but like any other word can be considered offensive, depending on the context. If so, I could remove that word, even if that isn’t wrong. Maybe it’s the image of the deity, in the corner of the banner? It can’t be because it’s how they show her on all imagens and sculptures. It’s not offensive. Although some of her images and statues may contain partial nudity (chest), there’s no nudity in this specific building. Anyway, I see no other word that could be potentially in my description:

“O Centro Espírita de Umbanda Seguidores de Jurema das Matas e Ogum Beira Mar realiza trabalhos espirituais e ações de caridade, ajudando a comunidade com doações e apoio a instituições da cidade. Cultos são realizados aos sábados, no período da noite.” (translation: The Umbanda Spiritist Center “Seguidores de Jurema das Matas e Ogum Beira Mar” conducts spiritual work and charitable activities, assisting the community through donations and support for local institutions. Services are held on Saturday evenings.)

The other reasons for the denial were:

  • " The photo submitted is from a third party source" and " We can confirm that the Wayspot in question does not exist at the nominated location"
That also makes no sense. I took the main photo and two supplemental photos. One was a 180° view, showing the building and everything around it. Checking Street View you can see the soccer field and the 3 colorful buildings nearby. I admit that I posted ONE photo from street view later, later, when I was trying to appeal, just to easily show the building Before (Google) and how it is right now (my photo). But that was the appeal, not the submission.

Again, all the reasons are nonsense. But I just want to understand.

Since I can’t see the real reason why the appeal was denied, can someone tell me? I just want to understand, since for me, it makes no sense. Maybe because I cropped the photo 1 in a third party app, some machine detected something wrong? I can also take more photos of the building and add here later (I think I’ll do it).

I want an explanation before trying again, since they said “refrain from such practices which may lead to suspension to your Wayfarer and game accounts in continuation”.

Thank you for your attention.

The “Abuse” rejection narrative can be flagged for a nomination for any of the following reasons (roughly in order of how often they occur):

* The photo is not yours (e.g., taken from streetview, found on another website)
* The wayspot location pin is misplaced
* The wayspot is deliberately misrepresented (e..g., on school property but pretending it isn’t)
* The nomination is believed to be fake
* Another nomination was flagged and all of yours have been flagged as a consequence
* The text itself is abusive
* The nomination is controversial and likely to be offensive (e.g., a mural of terrorists)
* (there may be others)

It may be worth looking at your submission to see if any of these errors were made.

Yeah like I explained the photo is mine, the pin is correct, it isn’t fake, like the photos can prove, nothing wrong on the text and it’s not controversial and/or offensive. I checked everything and I still don’t know.

Update: they replied my email about the appeal rejection and said the waypoint us approved now.
But since I promised, here are the photos:

Thank you.
