I submitted a nomination for the Frauen*ProjekteZentrum, which is a community center where women can meet up for projects.
Machine translation of my original description:
The Women’s* Project Center on Weberstraße is a space for women’s projects of all kinds. It offers space for workshops, classes, readings, and other cultural events. The center’s own women’s café, achtbar, is also a welcoming gathering place. Events such as exhibitions, brunch, and cultural, video, and game nights are held here regularly.
Reviewers rejected it for being on private property, so I appealed:
Reviewers rejected this nomination for being on private property. That is not the case, it’s open to the public and no one lives there. It perfectly meets socialize criteria. Local newspaper article about its significance: Tübingen · Jubiläum: Tübinger Frauenprojekte: Eine wilde Mischung | swp.de
Niantic Note
Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder! The Wayspot nomination in question is a refuge center for abuse victims, which is an ineligible location under the Wayspot rejection criteria. We recommend you review the Wayspot rejection criteria before submitting any more Wayspot contributions: Rejection Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center
I’m a bit confused about the rejection, since that’s not the purpose of this building/project. They offer a wide range of events, workshops, even sports classes like pilates. The only related thing is that they have two external tenants that are in the same building but aren’t what I nominated, one is a midwife, and one is a organization that offers counseling for women for a wide range of issues, including domestic abuse. But that’s not what I nominated, it’s not even part of the same organization. They’re just also in the same building. Even then, it’s not a refuge center in the slightest? I don’t really understand this rejection
Hmm. I have looked through the public websites for this place and I think it’s eligible. I don’t agree with this appeal outcome. The website seems to say that it is primarily a place for all women to meet up. And then one small part of the work they do provides protection to vulnerable women. But they have rooms that any group can rent out and they offer concerts and other kinds of meet-ups that are open to the general public.
I can imagine that the fact that abused woman can find a safe place here does make it a sensitive location. As I can imagine having groups of people in the neighbourhood may give some people an unsafe feeling.
I do think it meets the socialise criteria, so it should be accepted if it is not a sensitive location.
Then they shouldn’t have a room that they rent for random parties if the whole property is sensitive. We are applying a higher level of security than the building and organization does.
The organization provides protected shelter and counseling services for abused women and their children. The location is sensitive. Hence, the Wayspot has been removed.
There is no refuge. There is a counseling organization that also offers advice for abuse victims. They can’t live there. Unless that’s not what refuge means
If you’re talking about the actual women’s shelter run by the tenant-organization – that’s at a different, undisclosed location, but I can guarantee it is not at this space Autonomes Frauenhaus | Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. Tübingen
It’s in the city center so people are there regardless, and it’s not a shelter, so they really just come to get advice there. I would never nominate something that is actively a shelter for abused women and children. This is an event/hangout space/community center right next to a school, and is not regarded as a sensitive location by the community. You can go there to do pilates or have a matcha while playing board games.
It’s the same way a queer community center will also offer counseling for people with HIV, a regular community center might host alcoholics anonymous meetings, or a Black community center will offer counseling for racism in the work place. All sensitive issues but things that are part of a community.
@ScopelyExpOren would you consider reinstating the wayspot if I get written confirmation that the women’s shelter is at a different location and this is a community center/ event space?
Their website lists the Counseling and Refuge Center at the same address.

We have already given it a look and decided on the outcome. It’s not feasible for us to re-review previously reviewed appeals. Our decision was made based on evidence and in light of our policies, and we stand by it.
If you find any contradictory evidence, you can choose to resubmit the nomination.
Just for reference: they do not disclose the location of the refuge center for safety reasons, so the only address listed for the organization is where their offices are located, which is at the community center. Which is a very different location that I have been to and which wouldn’t even have space to house 8 women and 10-12 children (and I would assume they would not hold concerts and public events at a women’s shelter, that seems counterintuitive).
