Appeal rejected for a significant & unique place

So I submitted the Tenebris nomination which got rejected. I appealed it and the appeal was also rejected due to lack of uniqueness. However as per the new rules this is an eligible POI because this is a restaurant where people dine absolutely on the dark and all waiting staff are visually impaired people. The aim is for the seeing people to experiance dining great food while understanding what it is to be blind. This restaurant is not only providing work for visually impaired people, they also donate part of the earnings to associations who support visually impaired people. Also this is the one and ONLY such place in the entire country- there is nothing else like it - and the only place you have to book place months in advance to get a table (so yeah, pretty famous). All this can be seen in their official site on the internet, still the rejection says there is no proof about the uniqueness. Are people who do the reviews not checking on the internet?

The second nomination in my screenshot is “The Hideout” - a much unique place designed specifically for quizzes (not only, but mostly movie related ones) and social games. The interior is really unique and the place is also very significant for the Quiz-players Community as … there are not many such places in the country. I am afraid that the appeal I did today will be rejected again, because… well, it may happen same as Tenebris.

Third nomination - Kostas - is the most recent one I submitted like 10 days ago and it was accepted really fast. I am from Bulgaria and both Tenebris and The Hideout are in Bulgaria. Kostas is in Greece where I was on holiday the last couple of weeks. Kostas is a Greek restaurant with good cuisine, recommended by locals. Honestly I did not believe ot will go through as because of being the oldest and most recommended by locals there is nothing much else to it, compared to my other 2 nominations.

So my question is why:

  • Why is the greek nomination accepted for days while the Bulgarian ones took months? Is there any country- specific differences? I kind of hate it really that most POIs around are mainly kids playgrounds instead of … well, more significant places for grown-ups. I am 46 and sitting on a child playground is weird.

  • Why were Tenebris and The Hideout rejected as nominations?

  • Why was Tenebris rejected also on appeal and will the same happen to The Hideout?

Please provide full detail on nomination(photo, surrounding photo, location, title/description, supporting info) before we can comment further. Anyway you wont get any blanket statement, each nomination will be reviewed based on its own merit.

How long review is highly depend on how many reviewer in the area and how many people “skip” . Restaurant is definitely could be eligible but may not acceptable due to generic business so lots of reviewer might skip if they arent sure.

If the restaurants are as good as you say it is, I would just resubmit and add some reviews to illustrate how great locals think it is. And then appeal if it gets rejected again. Concept restaurants with high reviews seems like a great place to socialize.

I’m in agreement. Your narrative here makes them sound like really good submissions. You would need to provide full details of the nominations if you want people to assist with working out why it was rejected, as there could be something about your nomination that is a problem.

Here are the details about Tenebris:

Description: The only restaurant where the clients can dine in absolute darkness. The project supports the community of visually impaired people.

Supplemental information: This is the only such place in the entire country.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. By adding reviews you mean to put links to them in the Supplemental information when submitting the POI?

Hi,.thank you for the input. In the above comment I gave information about Tenebris. Here is about the Hideout:

Description: The Hideout is a place for quizzes, social games, karaoke and other events. The interior is permanent.

On the appeal I wrote the imporrance to the quiz player community and also provided the FB site where they upload all events. Do you think this is sufficient or do I have to explain more details?

Yes you can do that.

In the Forum Criteria Discussions Library is suggests to do so.

what was the exact rejection reason and was it from the community or the team? and what was the appeal rejection notes?

So for The Hideout the rejection come from the community.

For Tenebris however is says Niantic.

Here are the rejection notes:

Did you convey the information that you gave us in the submission and the appeal? If you did, I hope this appeal rejection will be given another look.

Your nomination supporting information is too few. You should mention all this. Its in your best interest to put in all evidence that this place is unique and good place to socialize. Sadly we usually have to spoonfed all these information to reviewer. Your supporting information is only 1line. If you cant put in effort to put in more information inside supporting information, would you expect reviewer to do it?

Now that you mention all this in forum, it looks better, you should resubmit with more supporting information on why its good place to explore/socialize

I’m sure you didn’t mean it to sound this way but this sounds like that you are saying it’s the reviewers job to find all the details but sadly they don’t so submitters have to do it for them.

If it up to the submitter to supply all the evidence required.

Yes. Thats why the supporting information is too few

I think seeing some examples of restaurants that have been approved may be helpful. This is one that my community approved. I made sure to note some of the noted dishes, the dog-friendly outdoor patio, and that it’s family-friendly. In the supporting info, I provided the link to their website, let know that they do different events including charitable ones.

Links can be put in the supporting information. When you need to provide evidence that what you are saying is true (e.g., this is a unique restaurant supporting the visually impaired and where you dine in the dark), this can only be done through links.

You have written a lot in your opening statement here about Tenebris, but wrote so little in your submission that I think you may have misunderstood the review process.

Every submission /should/ stand by itself, The submitter should provide everything needed to convincer the reviewer that this is a wayspot that should be in the system. If it is difficult to find on a map or to confirm it does exist at the location, then explain how the reviewer can check this. If you are claiming (which you should be) special features about this restaurant, link to a decent website (or two) that show this.

Some reviewers will do their own investigations for what look like good submissions but have poor evidence. Some won’t and you cannot expect them to. The submitter should do the work themselves.

In summary, your description needs to be fleshed out and your supporting information does also with links added.

“The Hideout” probably has similar issues.

Yes, I was in the wrong here. I do not make much reviews but when I do I always search the place in maps and read so hence assumed everyone does it. Thanks for all the input. Now at least I know those are good places and will try again.

ooh, Aaron reacted with :100: - i hope the op reports back that they have received a new email :crossed_fingers:

You don’t miss anything, do you?
