Following the linked post by Aaron, where a sponsored location which no longer exists was able to be removed, I figured I’d try to get a similar situation resolved, where an EE sponsored location should’ve been removed years ago as it hasn’t existed at that location for around 5 years, but my original request to have this removed (ticket number 15869369) never got actioned after I replied to the email in the screenshot.
The EE store that this sponsored Pokéstop represents was part of the same unit that Argos occupied. You can see this in street view from 2018:
At some point around 2021, Argos was bought by Sainsbury’s, and they closed a lot of the standalone stores in favour of moving Argos into existing Sainsbury’s locations. This Argos was closed down as part of that buy-out, and as EE was a part of the same unit, they also closed down at this time and thus they no longer exist at this location.
If you compare the above street view to the street view in 2022 and beyond, you can see that both the Argos and the EE branding are no longer on the unit, and instead the unit is now occupied by Dreams, a bedding company that has nothing to do with mobile phone networks.
As such, the sponsored location should be removed as the store it represents has not existed for several years.
