I nominated a mural in an alley in chicago. It is a completely public alley, anyone can walk through them.
it was rejected because it said it was not publicly accessible. My appeal was also rejected.
Can someone explain this? I don’t understand. As I mentioned, these are public alleyways.
Welcome to the forum
It is probably because the mural was on the exterior wall of a single-family private residential building. Unfortunately, anything on or attached to the external boundary of these is strictly ineligible.
Please have a look at Private Residences, Farmland & K-12
Ahh, thank you. That reason does make sense. But the rejection reason seemed wrong, as it implied the spot was inaccessible.
Thank you for the link! Very helpful.
It’s always confusing until you understand. It’s often a shame, especially when it’s something that you can touch from the public space without trespassing, but it’s a solid rule with no wiggle room.
