Are shooting ranges eligible if they are not restricted to 21+?

I cannot believe I am asking this question. I have known that shooting ranges are not eligible since I began doing Wayfarer way back when Pokemon Go players became eligible to participate. But today it was brought up that the “shooting range” prohibition is under the “adult location” section. Are shooting ranges that allow children eligible?

I pulled this up for Charlotte, NC - may vary in your location/Country. In North Carolina it is possible for those under 18 to enter, remain and shoot firearms. So, for what it’s worth, here is a partial answer.

Maybe this is different from culture to culture, German marksmen’s clubs get accepted as wayspots since they usually offer shooting sports for all ages Schützenverein - Wikipedia

I checked another range in North Carolina… They welcome shooters from age 8-18

No, they are not.

Does that include marksmen’ss clubs in German-speaking areas? And things like archery?

I’ll expand on woopers question so that we can hopefully get some broader and clearer clarification.

Are objects that generally meet eligibility deemed explicitly ineligible due to sharing a location at a shooting/*** range?

And is archery considered shooting aswell? Asking because in German, archery literally translates to bow shooting (“Bogenschießen”).

Following. I haven’t gotten pictures yet but I know where two public archery ranges are in my area. One is part of a university campus, the other is part of a city park sports complex. Both don’t allow firearms.

Archery is OK. The fact that the translation includes the word “shooting” does not change the nature of this sport.

Getting mixed signals from multiple people. I’ve seen people argue that archery should be ineligible just like shooting ranges due to both being unsafe in the same nature.
That’s why I brought up that question too, since it’s also unclear whether it’s about ***s or the unsafe aspect in general.

I don’t perceive it being about safety, but about shooting things with guns being very much an adult activity even though you get adults teaching children how to do it in USA and other places.

Archery just isn’t seen as an adults-only activity. You would never nominate the archery boards, but the archery range itself, behind where you stand to shoot, is probably safer than standing on a sidewalk.

Of course, I totally get your opinion (and share it regarding archery), I was only trying to show how nuanced this topic is and why clarification is desperately required.

I had completely forgotten that you had brought this up previously:

I’ll just add from my experience, we had an archery range that was a PoI from the early days of Ingress. This range moved from one location to a new location and one of my locals asked me how to get it moved, as the 10m restriction had just been implemented. I showed her how to use the help chat in moving those and we went and took photos of the new location. I also told her there was a chance that Niantic would remove the PoI as it was an archery range and I believed then as I do now that they were not a safe place to play. You don’t need people wandering around with their head down in an area with fast moving projectiles.

This is the response I got.

So in my experience I belive it is more of a safty thing than an age thing.

Yes… a long time ago my first job was actually as a scout camp archery instructor, so I get what you mean. Both of the ranges I am thinking of are fenced, and I planned to pin them at the gate, as I would with a dog park or basketball / tennis court.
