Area turned to Rubble, should I report stops for removal?

A city building & surrounding facility has been completely reduced to rubble which includes 11 POI’s. What’s the best route for reporting them for removal? Should I report individually? or should I just leave it till it’s rebuilt?

Photos were taken a week ago. Currently the building is completely gone. There’s no way to access the poi’s up close due to construction and hazards obviously

Quick edit: the photos were taken from the west side of the building close to the furthest southwest POI

What actually happened to the building? Was this a planned demolition that’s intended to be rebuilt? An abandoned building being demolished to make room for something else entirely?

If it’s just rebuilding something, I’d argue removing it isn’t accurate if the intent is for the building to just get rebuilt with the same purpose it had before. Similar logic for stuff around the building, if it’s going to be put back where it was (or close by) then being temporarily moved out of the way isn’t the same as something being removed permanently.

Hi @RunawayCow2 ,

Yes, please report the Wayspots for removal using the webform linked the top of this page (so that you can provide images if required). Alternatively, you can share recent images and location details here in this thread.

That’s not correct. The location is currently hazardous irrespective of the cause. This should be reported for removal.

That’s inaccurate too; we can re-evaluate the situation once the construction is over.

Cheers!

In case you can’t see any forms at the top, this post has the link :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thanks @RunawayCow2 , I have removed the Wayspots at this location. Please simply reply to this message when the construction is completed and we will review the location to reinstate the Wayspots if required.

Thanks,

Considering that restored waypoints don’t automatically regain their former status (deleted gyms don’t become gyms if restored, showcases aren’t restored either, etc…) that’s too much effort for something that actively makes the game board worse.

Doing everything by the book should make the game board better, not worse…

Maybe so, but you also have to take into account player safety and accessibility. If a place like this has been razed or turned into a construction zone, keeping wayspots visible in game boards encourages trespassing onto those grounds, which can be (an usually is) illegal and dangerous, especially in construction zones.
The game boards should be able to represent real life as closely as possible without becoming unsafe. As much as I agree that a better game board should be a high priority for games like this, I also believe that safety should be highest priority.
That all being said, I do hope there is a form of metadata system in place for situations like this, where wayspots could be retired for a time, but retaining former status as gyms/showcases/etc. for when they become reinstated.

Not everyone thinks the same way.

I personally prefer an accurate game board. If this means that we occasionally lose some game locations then so be it.

Hopefully the new built area will have new accurate and meeting criteria POI to nominate.

An area that has been demolished fully is unlikely to get the same POIs returned and if they do they are likely to be in a new location.
