Hey there, as someone who has quite a bit of contributions, I was curious. I’ve heard from some people that they don’t submit nominations because they are scared of getting banned randomly. I’ve heard people tell me of horror stories, with randomly getting banned. I am curious to know how real this is and if doing nominations can get you randomly banned for no reason. Thank you.
People do not get banned “randomly”. The Wayfarer team (who you will see post here occasionally) do thorough investigations when reports are received and only take actions on the Abuse Ladder - Wayfarer Abuse Enforcement Ladder Policy — Wayfarer Help Center when people do things like:
For the purposes of this policy, we define abuse as behaviors that violate the Niantic Terms of Service and Player Guidelines, such as (non-exhaustive examples):
submitting fake data to the Niantic Map
promoting hateful or harmful content
accessing Wayfarer clients or backends in an unauthorized manner, including through the use of third-party software or add-ons.
Don’t believe what people say on social media, as it won’t be the whole story.
As someone who have receive 30 days suspension before, i can say that its not true.
Getting suspension is not as easy as you think. If you read around, you can see that those getting ban doesnt tell whole story
Plus, if your ban is wrongfully being put, you can appeal. I got my warning removed because I prove the location exist.
As long as you don’t do anything wrong like misplacement of location or faking wayspots, you should be fine actually.
I’d also like to add that anyone complaining about a false or incorrect ban can be directed to here. If they counter with they “can’t be bothered with it” or “there’s no point” you can usually assume it’s because they did have something to hide.
Staff has been genuinely attentive. I do think mistakes have been made. You’re also only seeing somebody’s narrative that they have created on other sites that staff doesn’t monitor.
