Can a postbox in a public post box area that has been painted be accepted similarly to how utility boxes with paint on them be accepted?

In Sweden in the country there are these collections of post boxes near the main road so that the post man has an easier job. Should I blur out the name, clone stamp it out or leave it as is? I do not see in the rules that you have to blur names of people only that you don’t show faces or license plates and it can’t be too blurry.

The art is of a shark attack which is kind of nice as it relates to the coastal nature of this country side settlement.

What could my description be to help the reviewers and/or most likely the appealers to accept it.

A painted electrical box for reference:

I am sorry. I am not too sure what you mean by name in foto. Can you share the original foto that you will submit? This foto is seems edited to remove surrounding and might be rejected by reviewer

I think that the photo is just an example of the sort of artwork on a utility that the OP is talking about and not the actual potential submission.

@EmperorTeddy

I would consider blurring of a nameplate taking adjustment of a photo too far.

If there is an angle that you can take that shows art work but not the name, that might work, perhaps even a close up of the art, with supplementary pictures showing the whole box and others that show the setting.

If your gut instinct is that what you are photographing is intrusive and inappropriate then it probably is not appropriate to be a wayspot.

It’s just their surnames, so I would not consider it as impeding on someone’s privacy as it is kind of publicly available to everyone here in Sweden. I am unsure wether that is okay by the wayfarer guidelines which is why I am not submitting the photo here.

If you can’t submit the photo on the forum, don’t submit the photo as a Wayspot.

If this is visible on street view, giving us a location to look at could help us with advice.

I don’t know the forum rules which is why I am asking, I would if I were aware but I am not it is just a postbox with art and two surnames. It doesn’t state anywhere that you cant

Like if you look at a painting you can see a signature with the name, if you go to the Swedish website hitta you can find out where people live/who lives where like it is all publicly available but I don’t know how it is in America as this is an American centric company no?

It would not normally come up that someone’s name would be posted on something that is eligible. That would normally only come up on Single Family Private Residential Property.

Personal names are mentioned as not eligible in photos here:

https://wayfarer.scopely.com/new/criteria/rejection

That seems more in reference to the submitter’s name. However, I would find it difficult to accept a mailbox with a private citizen’s name on it. It seems like the place a specific person gets their mail would not be a great thing to have as a Wayspot. That is why I wanted to actually see the location if possible.

2 ängsholmsvägen i guess then, it’s a community postbox area as I stated before.

If its community post box, why would it have people’s name on it?

If the post box belong to SFPRP, its ineligible no matter how artistic it is

A community postbox area would not normally be eligible as it’s purpose is to get your mail. It wasn’t designed to socialize, exercise or explore. Even though the art on the individual postbox might be artistic, I’d have trouble voting to approve it.

Because it’s a gathering of boxes

But are electrical boxes that are painted built to socialise, a postal box area is more social than a box

It feels as if you are just trying to reject things.

You don’t meet people at an electric box you do meet people at a communal postage area

In fact I’d love for you to tell me how you’d socialise better near an electrical boxes compared to a post box area

Do you go to your buddies and say ”hey let’s hang out at that electrical utility box” and they answer ”what a great idea we are all going to hang there together!”

If you live in an apartment do you not greet people if you meet them at the stairwell, the entrance, the post area?

I agree, otherwise we are using double standards. Personally I don’t think painted electric utility boxes fit criteria, but they are probably even less eligible, as at least postboxes have some social function.

So, in this case, I would just submit, as basically they are the same (I skip them while reviewing, but I see them a lot in the game)

This would be under explore category in my view as that is what art work is, not social.

Thanks for the location

Do I have the correct place?

If this is right, then the main issue is safety, as there is no safe place to stand

Postal Boxes Vs Electrical Boxes

Exercise is out for both…

Postal Boxes
These do not meet Social as people don’t go to be social, they may happen to meet someone there and be social but then wouldn’t you be social wherever you bumped in to them.
That leaves Explore. I find it unlikely that there would be an official “art” trail that includes 1 persons postbox.
You also have to prove against the SFPRP and Safe for Pedestrians.

Electric Boxes
Again, not social.
I always try to look for if it’s official. If the local authority have commissioned / authorised it then that points that they want the general public to explore them. There may even be official trails created by the authority to help you visit them all.
Does not have any risk of failing the SFPRP and Safe for Pedestrians criteria.

The reason for Accepting the electric box is not the electric box itself it’s the Art. This could be said for your post box but you would have to show evidence that it’s likely to be permanent and likely to be explored not just be the people who are there to get their mail.

I personally would consider that safe as the speed limit there is 30km/h due to it being a residential area which you can see by the one sided 30km/h speed marker and the road bumps slightly up ahead and the road which you access this from is 50km/h. I can see your point though.

Unfortunately it’s not what you might consider safe but what the guidelines consider safe.

There is no place to stand other than the road and it’s a junction. It is not safe.

Why would they be different from other murals?

I also think most murals are not real POi. I’m always puzzled that many restaurants are rejected because they aren’t special enough, but most painted walls are easily accepted.

Naturally there are really nice murals, but I see way to many low quality murals and painted utility boxes approved.
