Can I get a job going from town to town nominating more pokestops?

I seem to live in a place with limited poke stops. Not only in my town but alot of towns around me. So, was wondering if a guy like me could get paid to go “improve pokestops” around the world?

Not sure who you are expecting to pay you?

“I would like some more pokestops in my area, should I pay this guy or should I do them myself”…

I was trying to find a long way of answering this question, but can’t. Generally, it’s quite hard to get paid to do something which is already being done for free by lots of people.

No.

I would also like to add my name in to the hat for the role of “Professional forum replier” as I seem to spend a lot of time doing it

Note “Professional” as in “doing it as a profession” and not as in “doing it well” :frowning:

Well, I figured pokemon, or scopely, would maybe like to improve interest in the game and have more people play by haveing a more abundant pokestops and not having to get them themselves. I do not believe most people (kids especially) are nominating pokestops. It is apparent in allot of areas that barley have any pokestops and people just give up and don’t play. You

I don’t imagine Scopely are worried about “a small percentage” of people giving up as this is usual. Don’t reckon they would have Niantic the amount they did if they where.

IMO: The amount of people stopping due to wayspot density will be minimal as there does seem to be a massive increase in wayspots being added to the map by people who are happy to do the work free apart from added game locations and the enjoyment of getting a nomination accepted.

Could I ask what you would bring to the job that the free labour force are not?

As a side note,

Would love to know some figures in how many wayspots have been added to the map by Wayfarers over the years…

Any staff able / willing to supply the data…

Year / Total Wayspots / Pokestops / Gyms / Added by Wayfarers

According to Reddit, I’m already being paid by Scopely as a “gate keeper” because I don’t approve every nomination that I review. :man_shrugging:t2:

My experience is that my town had 6 pokestops at best. Only a few people played in the area and nobody was nominating spots. I have been off of work for a back injury so I had the time to get more than usually invovled in Pokemon go. I have improved the number of pokestops in my area greatly and got the word out by talking to people letting them know that the game had improved in our town. I believe we now have more people interested in playing. If I did not have the last three months off of work I would had never had the time to do this or the motivation. I do believe pokemon go is a good game to get kids and adults outside even of it is playing a game but don’t believe the majority of people are going to take the time and energy to go out and nominate pokestops. Maybe in big city’s that people don’t work as much or what ever reason but in most towns around the world I do believe it could be greater! I do know that I showed some people how to nominate spots and they are doing it now but they had no idea that they could or even how to do it but soon they will be back to work also… It is very time consuming and time is money.

I swear that on the old forum they did share some statistics like this at one point.

Wait, what?

I have also been out of work (company moved from UK to India and health issues restricted what work I can do).

I have also taken this time to play Pokemon Go and Wayfarer (most would say “too much”).

Both of us have chosen to do this as it helps us (keep us active, stops boredom, “improves” gameplay). Why would Scopely pay either of us when people are happy to do it for free.

Plus, lets say Scopely said they are going to pay 10 Professional Nominators please explain why the would employ You (or Me) and not 1 of the other thousands apply for the job?

I seen a need so I want to fill that need. I inquiered. If there is not a position for game promotion tech then I guess I wait until there is. If there is a position available is this my first interview and do I send my resume to you?
Haha, hehe just kiding. I was just wondering. I don’t know. I have a real interview to go to So… I’ll talk to you guys later. It’s been fun!

Good Luck

With the delay in “Help Chat” / “Reports” due to increase in submissions this would be a more likely opportunity (even if just temporary).

I spent a lot of my days off in March through June doing Wayfarer since Scopely refused to schedule a single event (other than max mondays) when I wasn’t working, and my local groups don’t meet for that, so I couldn’t attend any meetups. My approved wayspot count went from 17 to 95.

(I’m now at 106. The first anniversary of my first submit is later this week.)

Not only did I not get paid, they didn’t even change the scheduling I was complaining about, except for the August community day.

I don’t mind being called a Gate Keeper. That is what we are asked to do and if like me you prefer accuracy more than quantity then if that makes me a Gate Keeper then fine.

Wonder if “Gate Keeper” could be an option at the side of my name on the forums

Congratulations

I have not been a large numbers nominator, about 40 coming up to 2 years.

Just spent an hour adding (exercise) Gyms in the local area that are not wayspots as Drafts (15 so far) so I might start catching you up

31 of mine are swimming pools in multi-unit housing complexes. All I can say is “Southern California”.

This is about the best we would get…
