Can I get some tips for getting this way spot accepted?

I tried to get this way spot through before and was told by the community that the nomination was good but my picture had refelctions. So i tried again. Now the note is saying it not unique enough and it is a normal stand.
Maybe it is a bad picture so its not as clear that this anything but normal. Magnet status is a big deal for hospitals. Having the award displayed so beautifully in the lobby is also unique.
Is there a way i can communicate this better?

Heres the screen shots of the rest of the nomination. In case you guys need more info

I think the description is okay but could be better. It tells me about the award in general but why did this location get it? When and for anything in particular? At the moment it could be used for any other award that’s the same for elsewhere.

Also, I’d love some links in supporting about the awarding organisation or news stories about it being received.

Try making the plaque clearer? Being able to read that would confirm some of what you say in the Description / Supplemental.

Note: It could have been clear on the full size image so ignore this if that is the case.

You’ve received solid advice so far but I just wanted to say kudos to you for how you formatted this. You asked a question without getting defensive and you posted all of the relevant screenshots necessary for others to provide you with feedback. It’s refreshing!

I’m not clear how this meets any of the criteria?

I didn’t leave a comment on the validity of the submission. It was just refreshing to see their approach compared to a lot of the posts on here.

Umm hmmm… So the description I posted explains what magnet status is and how it is obtained. I guess a better description would be like when an elementary school earns " exemplary" status (i’m not sure if your shcool did that ).Its an award that is hard to achieve and must be earned yearly to keep the status. Or like a Michelin Star resturant. It is an outstanding achievement and puts you above others. But its not something the news would report on. Most hospitals have magnet staus for 1 year, and they brag about it. There will be banners and signs everywhere that its is a magnet status hospital. This hospital uniquely has the physical award for achieving it 2 years staight and the stand also has a plaque for the 2 years before that they had achieved magnet status.
Its actually a really pretty trophy and the hospital is proud of it. Its the very first thing you see when you enter the hospital.

This link should tell you more about it and how a hospital is eligible for the award.
I feel this might be something the general public doesnt know about. But in healthcare its considered a big deal. I just dont know how to convey all that in a couple paragraphs

So my first try looked like this

Is head on better? Its just hard to tackle the reflections :face_exhaling: whole thing is in encased in glass.

Yeah, thank you! I feel like its a really good submission. I think its just something the general population doesnt understand. So i really hope i can communicate my point better:sweat_smile:

I replied to the first post with more context. I promise its actually a really cool thing :sob::sob:

I think using that link in the supporting and explaining like you have here is fine.

As I mentioned, the description before reads like it could be for any hospital getting that award, as it just tells me what a Magnet Designated hospital is in general. If I were nominating, I’d try to use more specific examples in the supporting. Does the hospital have a website where they’d have an article about winning it?

As for my school getting awards, nope. I’m in the UK, we don’t have “elementary schools”, it’s primary school and then high school. Best you can hope for there is a decent OFSTED rating.

J, there are no specific examples for why this hospital got Magnet status. It’s a “recipe” that a hospital must follow. Their outcomes must meet or exceed the recipe. This isn’t it, but something like:

  • have better than 95% patient satisfaction scores
  • have better than 90% employee satisfaction scores
  • have lower than 5% mortality rate
  • have higher than 90% of nurses with specialty credentials
  • etc

A lot of pieces go into the “recipe” that adds up to them getting the designation. If a hospital decides they want to get the Magnet designation, it usually takes a few years to get all those measures and outcomes to the right level. And then many hospitals realize that they can’t sustain all of them. Doing it multiple years in a row is a big deal.

That makes it a lot clearer! Thank you

Really well said! Thanks a bunch! So i should make a case for myself in the support tab to explain this a bit better then try again?

Oh right ha ha. My school made up a whole song to celebrate our exemplary status. It essentially means we scored high on our standardized tests and earned " exemplary". So parents can feel confident their child is well ahead of other schools. Its big branging rights as well  but that could also be something only done in texas schools. America is wierd

It’s almost like i work in outcomes and process improvement at a hospital!

Omg!! Thats awesome!! Ha ha

Can you recreate the head-on photo, but take a sidestep so that your reflection is not visible? I think that would go a fair way to getting some positive votes.

One trick that I use to avoid a reflection is to back away and use the zoom lens
