Can Niantic staff check if cell is blocked, and reverse the block so that pokestops can appear?

  • Description of the issue:

The s17 cell in question is in a local shopping mall. There has been a few successful nominations in the cell in question, but none of them have become a pokestop.

Can any Niantic staff help check on the cell and see if it has been blocked off so pokestops can’t be created? Thanks.

Coordinates of nominations:
(1.376361, 103.954760)
(1.376535, 103.954911)
(1.376683, 103.954937)

indeed (all three in the same cell), it appears they are blocked by Lady Audrey Swinging Golf Mural

I remember looking at this. None of the 4 in that cell appear as stops/gyms for me.

I understand that Lady Audrey being the earliest accepted nomination in the cell should become the pokestop, but its not there. That’s why I’m asking if the cell has been blocked off.

Gym selection is a mystery to us, there are a lot of factors that can cause a wayspot to become a gym or not. Some say it is random, others (like myself) believe there is an algorithm in place. What we do know it is not the oldest one that will automatically become a gym.

I’m not talking about gyms. I’m just talking about pokestops. I have created pokestops, so i understand how s17 cells work.

Simply put, the s17 cell in question has 4 accepted nominations. In general, the earliest accpted nomination should become the pokestop. But there are no pokestops in that cell at all, which is definitely not the norm. Hence this post.

Ah, sorry I misunderstood.

The first one is blocked on purpose, you can see the red stripe through the pokestop sign.

Edit: we have observed that a blocked wayspot will prevent any other wayspot to appear. So basically you have a dead cell.

How are you able to see that “Lady Audrey” nomination was blocked? I normally use Niantic Wayfarer website to check on my nominations through the map, and I don’t see anything unusual about the nominations. They just appear as the usual red outline-white solid circles.

Anyway, assuming that is the problem blocking a pokestop from being created in the cell, all I have to do now is for actual Niantic staff to respond to my post?

This is my first time creating a post on the forum, so I’m not sure how problems like these are usually resolved.

I can see the red stripe (left to “LIVE”)

How are blocked wayspots usually resolved? Do Niantic staff unblock the cell so that pokestops can appear? Or once a cell is blocked that’s it, there can be no pokestop in that cell?

Also, what causes a nomination, and by extension, the s17 cell to be blocked? The nomination looks alright, I don’t see anything that can cause the nomination to be blocked.

Good question. I don’t have a clue. It is just something I have observed that if there is an accepted wayspot in a cell, but with the red stripe, nothing else will appear in game. Don’t know if this is 100% true, but just my observation.

Edit: what I do know is that Scopely can and will block wayspots at request of the property owner, and will only remove it at the request of the property owner.

Often this happens when it is moved from its original cell where it was a stop into another already occupied cell. As the community observation is one stop per cell to prevent there being 2, the one being moved gets this tag to prevent game use.
However what appears to be the case from examples in this topic is that the presence of the pokestop tag prevents at a later date another wayspot converting.
The wayfarer team will need to look into this case. So be patient and wait for the team to respond.

Hi @kietlxag511 ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

I can confirm that the Wayspot “Lady Audrey Swinging Golf Mural @ GreenBox Downtown East” is a PokéStop.

While some nominations may be deemed eligible by the community of reviewers on Niantic Wayfarer for inclusion into Niantic’s location database, they may not necessarily be added into every Niantic game. After a nomination is approved by reviewers, there is an additional automated review that determines whether the nomination is an appropriate fit for each particular Niantic game. Each game has their own set of criteria for this step, so some nominations may be accepted into one game but not another.

The most common reason that an eligible nomination is not added to Pokémon GO is because the nomination is too close to existing PokéStops or Gyms. If an existing game location is removed or the criteria changes, the nomination may appear within Pokémon GO at a later time.

Regards,

@ScopelyExpOren, I apologize if I was not clear in the post. Is it possible to unblock the pokestop so that it appears in game?

People have replied in the post, saying that "“Lady Audrey Swinging Golf Mural @ GreenBox Downtown East” waypoint is blocked in Pokemon Go. This block is affecting the s17 cell that the waypoint is in.

As you have confirmed yourself, "“Lady Audrey Swinging Golf Mural @ GreenBox Downtown East” is a pokestop. But the pokestop does not appear in game, and I think the solution is that someone needs to manually unblock the pokestop. Hence this post.

I haven’t been following this so bear with me. Map - Pokémon GO shows this as a live pokestop

Have you been there in person, and can confirm it is not in game?

I guess it’ll appear in game tomorrow after the daily sync then. Yea I can confirm that it is still currently not in the game when i check Pokemon Go. Guess I was too hasty in replying.

The map from pokemongo.com is in real time. We use it to check sync. It says that the pokestop is live now. There is an issue if you cannot see it in game.

I have already pushed "Lady Audrey Swinging Golf Mural @ GreenBox Downtown East” it live in Pokémon GO. Can you please double check in Pokémon GO map? If it is not appearing not appearing now, then please wait for sometime and it should appear.

@cyndiepooh @ScopelyExpOren, I restarted the app and now the pokestop has appeared in game. Thank you for your help.
