Hello. In this S2 Level 14 cell, we have more than 20 active PokéStops/Wayspots. Previously, we had 3 Gyms, but after the Wayspot ‘Rekreacinė zona’ (gym) was moved, the 3rd Gym completely disappeared from Pokémon GO.
Adding new photos, voting, and even creating new PokéStops in the cell did not trigger a recalculation.
Could it be, that the 3rd Gym slot appears to be stuck in a “ghost state” in the database?
Is it possible to do anything that the any 3rd Gym can properly spawn in that area? Thank you!

Description:
When gyms are marked inactive, they do not usually get removed as wayspots, so the gym cannot respawn somewhere else.
This is because owner requests to get gyms turned off don’t stop the wayspot’s POI from still existing, and having the gym removed due to an owner request would increase the chances of abuse.
This looks very similar to the issue I had a week or two ago – a gym went inactive, and it happened to have another in-game pokestop sharing the cell. Niantic said that they couldn’t reinstate the gym, but a day or two later, the gym appeared (and the pokestop stayed gone).
I’m wondering if it’s part of a ‘tidying-up’ of cells that aren’t obeying the standard cell rules?
Most likely the move made it disappear, as it moved to a cell with a live pokestop, the moved wayspot could no longer be at the gameboard. It still is officially a gym, but due to a lot of abuse in the past, nowadays a move can cause wayspots to disappear.
Huh. I’m almost sure that I’ve seen it go the other way (gym vanishes, new gym appears), but now I’m thinking about it, I can’t think of a specific example.
Also, there was a strange thing that happened. When someone moved that Gym to a new location, it initially became invisible because there was already another PokéStop in that same cell. Since the cell that was previously empty had space, I submitted a new PokéStop there (there are multiple playgrounds in the area).
The new PokéStop appeared normally, but after some time, the old Gym suddenly respawned alongside it—resulting in both a PokéStop and a Gym existing in the exact same S2 L17 cell at the same time, which shouldn’t be possible. Eventually, that Gym completely vanished again, and now the whole cell is broken
The only thing that I do see, is that the wayspots “sports equipment” and “green trainer” look like duplicates, and one is probably misplaced a bit, but the problem is that looking at the picture, sports equipment is in the wrong cell, and removing that one won’t solve the problem
A word of advice, looking at the pictures, both Sports equipment and Courtyard Rope & Wall Climbing Area should be placed in the middle of the courtyard (within the circle), I would consider both of the wayspots misplaced, I see that you have submitted both, you may want to be a bit more careful
Thanks for the heads up! Honestly, I got really confused and desperate when the Gym disappeared and the cell stopped working, so I was just trying to figure out what was happening. I definitely didn’t mean to misplace them.
I have no issue with them being moved to their exact precise locations or even removed if needed—I just really want to get this broken cell/gym situation resolved properly
Thanks for your feedback. We’re constantly making improvements to Pokémon GO and occasionally, you may notice changes to the PokéStops or Gyms in your community. While we are not able to fulfill your request to add back these locations at this time, we recognize the disappointment this may have caused and hope you continue to seek out adventures at other PokéStops and Gyms in your surrounding communities.
