Checking if my account is fine — nomination reviews stalled since Sept 17

Hi Wayfarer Community and Team,

I know review timelines aren’t something the Team controls directly, so this isn’t a complaint — just trying to understand what’s normal and rule out something being off on my end.

Looking at my own submission history: out of the last ~72 decided submissions (nominations, edits, photos, complaints) during the last 3 months, the average time from submission to decision was about 4 days, with nominations specifically averaging ~5 days.

Since September 17, that pattern seems to have changed. 14 nominations submitted since then are still sitting in queue/review/voting 9-11 days later with no decision yet — already at or above my previous max, and with no sign of resolving. Before that date, everything in my history reached a final decision within that ~1-9 day window and once it was 12 days.

I also checked with our local Telegram community group, and the number of active players in my area looks about the same as before, so it doesn’t seem like a general drop in local activity on my end.

Is this a known change, or would it be worth double-checking that nothing’s flagged on my account? I’d like to keep nominating new stops in my area and nearby, but want to make sure there’s nothing wrong first before I keep submitting.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

It’s not unusual for submissions to spend a couple of weeks in voting

Is there any change in the type of POI you are submitting? Things that are borderline will nearly always take longer because they will probably need more reviews - something that is being accepted by everyone might be pulled from the queue early, plus borderline submissions might get more people skipping.

Good question, so I broke down the 14 pending nominations by type:

Outdoor Fitness / Sports / Workout - 6
Art objects (Sculptures + Murals) - 4
Playgrounds - 2
Big Shopping Mall - 1
Yard infrastructure (gazebo) - 1

Art objects and the mall are types I rarely submitted before, so those two could reasonably be more “borderline” and need extra scrutiny. But they’re only 5 out of 14 - the other 9 are Fitness/Workout and Playgrounds, which is exactly what I’ve always submitted and what usually got accepted in 3-5 days before Sept 17.

Separately (and probably relevant): around the same time I also started submitting removal requests for a few existing Wayspots in my area while auditing them - mostly objects located on school grounds that fall under the K-12 rule, plus one for a beauty salon/gym that no longer physically exists. Those are complaints/removals, not nominations, so a different queue - most are sitting in community voting, one is with the Wayfarer team for review.

Not sure if the removal requests could somehow affect how nominations from the same account get routed/prioritized, but wanted to mention it in case it’s relevant.

Unlikely to have an impact. Once a submission has made it into the voting pool for community review, it is getting pushed out to reviewers. Other submissions (or reports if that does have any impact) should only affect how long it takes to move from the queue into voting.

5 out of 14 needing extra scrutiny is not enough to explain the voting time doubling, but I don’t think there is anything to be concerned about. Statistically, you’re still within the “nothing to see here” range

One factor might be how long things are taking to get into the voting stage - since you don’t get notification of this, you would have to keep your own record and you might not be. It’s possible the voting itself is taking the same amount of time, but it’s just taking longer to get to that stage.

If you wanted to track that, you would have to look at your submissions daily and see which ones have moved into voting, which would be tedious.

Give it a couple of weeks!

Are you and the friends you reached out to also reviewing? That can help clear the queue, and you can earn upgrades to send your nominations to a wider review pool, which usually means a faster decision.

Yes — we have a local Telegram group, around 50 people, and about 10-15 of them say they submit and vote regularly. So there’s an active reviewer base in the area, it’s not like the local community suddenly went quiet.

I review myself too, and haven’t noticed any change in my own review queue size or wait times — which is part of why this felt off to me. If local reviewing capacity had genuinely dropped, I’d expect to see fewer things in my own queue too, not the same as usual.

I’m heading out of the country for a trip soon till Oct 8-9th, and I’ve got another 10-15 candidate nominations lined up that I’d like to submit before I leave. That would give an even clearer statistical picture either way (more data points against the same ~5 day average), but honestly this is exactly why I wanted to sort out the account question first — don’t want to submit a whole batch if there’s something to fix beforehand.

A lot of factor might happen here. Just because they active as pogo player, doesnt mean they active as reviewer. The review range is also very large and can be as big as a country/hundreds of km. Your telegram community is just part of reviewer out there . If there are more submission in the area, the nomination queue also will increase. You are lucky if your nomination can be approved that fast. My nomination already in voting for several weeks

Finally some movement! As my card-game mentors used to say back in the Preferans days — the universe deals better cards to those who cry for them :joy:
