Cooldowns - Myths and Facts

I’m at 1900. Quit due to the fact that they do not offer translation and I kept getting lockouts for “excessively” skipping foreign language ones.

My browser can translate easily.

This statement and accuracy aren’t even in the same galaxy. Cooldowns are enforced when the system detects anomalies in the review pattern not for this.

You say that but there was no other pattern in my reviewing. I wasn’t blindly accepting, my agreement rate is higher than most people I’ve seen post…. And every lockout started immediately after hitting skip on a foreign country nomination.

My intention was not to dismiss what you believe to be to be true. I was just setting the record straight. Cooldowns do not work the way you say here.

If skipping the Mexican nominations is not what I “did wrong” I would love to know what supposedly is.

I have already explained that.

You can just review them anyway?

My browser was not offering a translate function, and I could not find out how to add one.

Respectfully, no you have not. “Anomalies” is a useless word that - as demonstrated - does nothing to educate the person how to avoid.

Here are a few tips to help you review more effectively and avoid cooldowns:

  • Follow the criteria while reviewing nominations, we recommend keeping the eligible and ineligible criteria pages open in a different browser tab for easy access.
  • Take your time and review each segment on its own merit. Read this article for tips on how to review each section: Niantic Wayfarer
  • Avoid using third-party tools/plugins or depending on others to decide on how you vote on a nomination.

Best,

3 dots, top right of my screen (chrome on android mobile) brings up that menu, might need to scroll down

Completely different to my system but thanks for playing.

The fact that all my posts on this have now been split off into a thread labeled “myths” and my questions thoroughly disregarded just proves my point. I can’t “fix” what I do not know to be wrong.

Points 1 and 2 on your list are directly in conflict with point 3 specifically in relation to foreign language nominations where the reviewer cannot read the nomination text.

I was already doing all three when it comes to ones I can read.

You’ve posted that list in reply to me before and I posted the same response.

If there was an “anomaly” relating to my actual reviews and not the skips, I have no idea what that could be and therefore can’t fix it.

Being repeatedly smacked down as wrong, having my posts labeled as “myths”, and yet not being told what is actually happening is so frustrating that it’s galaxies beyond civilized behavior.

Before I figured that Chrome had the translate button that others have mentioned, my solution was to have a second browser tab with Google Translate open on it and to copy and paste any foreign text into it. It is a little bit slower than the one button option, but not by much. It’s a few extra seconds at most.

That’s exactly what I still do, as I didn’t know about the three-dots method. It’s also a guaranteed method on any device where you can have multiple browser tabs.

So either Aaron is right and it has nothing to do with not reviewing the foreign language ones… or he’s wrong (edit) and I need to learn how to translate (and that seems to violate my reading of his point three).

I am now even more confused and frustrated than I was before.

He won’t be lying.

Then everyone else in this thread, including me, is wrong?

I completely understand your confusion/annoyance/etc. If you are seeing a correlation between “skipping foreign language submissions” and “getting a cooldown”, it’s very hard to believe there isn’t one.

Is it possible that for the submissions you are reviewing, there is a pattern there that triggers the cooldown. Maybe accepting everything, rejecting everything, being far too quick?
