I am still quite new to reviewing so I do not know if this is a topic that has been asked already. I recently came across a submission of where it was an art piece in a private company area. It is accessible on foot but only to those who work there. I am not sure if its relevant but the company is for beer making and distributing. On one hand it doesn’t raise any immediate red flags but if I evaluate it from a players perspective, I think having an artwork/location only available to company workers ,not even residences of the area, is contrary to developing a world that is accessible and services the community.
edit: grammar and naming.
edit2: This area of the submission is a huge and wide area ( I am assuming for loading and unloading trucks). Even from the perspective of a pedestrian standing as close as to the gate of the restricted zone, you will not even see the artwork since it is located deep inside the property.
Welcome to the forum
General principle : Not every wayspot has to be accessible to every person. It just has to be safely accessible by the people who are allowed to be there.
Evaluate it as normal, but don’t discount it just for being in a private business.
Thanks for the guidance!
I don’t mean to sound like I am disagreeing, I just want to sharpen my understanding. If it has to just be safe for the people allowed to be there, why is it that private properties like farms are generally not advised to be wayspots? I have always been conservative with my reviews, if there is even a slight doubt that it is not a good spot I often indicate that there are aspects to the spot that make it not necessarily desirable to be a wayspot.
Farms are a special case, although I don’t understand why - see Private Residences, Farmland & K-12
I suspect that having wayspots specifically on farmland is the problem, but if there is a public trail, cafe, playground, visitor attraction on a farm, this is fine.
Single-family private residential property is an obvious category for being ineligible. As are schools and anything else targeted at under-18s (except playground, as these are for families, not just children, as you don’t leave your child there and walk away for the day).
Other private businesses are perfectly OK.
These are examples of private businesses : shops, retail parks, cafes, amusement parks, lots of tourist attractions.
In regards to Farms I would assume it would be the risk to crops and livestock.
If the Farm is inviting the public in such as with a Farm Shop they will make sure the Bull is somewhere safe where as if you go wondering through on your own and meet 1,000kg of Prime Steak it could be trouble.
Farms can be quite open so if you are not concentrating you could walk on in error if searching out a wayspot. A factory would be more obvious so you would find it hard to claim you did not know you was trespassing.
There are many rules of Wayfarer you could pick apart but in the end you have to just accept that These are the rules.
