Someone used a playground to create multiple POI, so that conveniently 3 cells are now occupied. It triggered a second gym, too. I had reported the two duplicates and they were rightfully removed. Somehow the second gym stayed, if I did not overlook a poi, it should get denounced back to a normal stop, I guess?
Anyways. The guy nominated those again and I reviewed both nominations, lol. Flagged both again for duplicates, however, one was APPROVED again today. Reported it directly again.
While this is abuse in my eyes, how long do I need to play this game with reporting and getting it approved again? I see it more and more in my surroundings that playgrounds get more and more poi when the cells lay conveniently. How to proceed here?
Not condoning abuses but why should you care when Wayfarer isn’t putting the simplest check in place to prevent something this simple? It’s already free labour.
Question should be why are you interacting with Wayfarer if you see it as Free Labour where as others see it has Scopely allowing us to improve the map for us.
Gyms do not get automatically demoted when other pokestops are removed causing a population below threshold situation.
There’s a grid in my area where all but one of the waypoints were on campus at a high school. In the process of getting those removed, the one waypoint not on the campus became a gym. It’s now still a gym but also the only waypoint in the grid.
Like the majority of players I want more stops and gyms. Map accuracy matters to us only to the extent the rules require. That means I review based on the official criteria and only nominate things that I believe are eligible. On the other hand, since reporting is optional, I rarely do so, safety issue aside.
In fact, the best way to improve the map is more checks and tools. In this case a simple check would have prevented those POIs from being added again. There’s only so much a few hundreds Wayfarer addicts can fix considering the size of our planet.
Scopely is ultimately the entity that can make the most difference. How many reviewers’ hours were wasted because of their stubborn refusal to clarify private property/public accessible text on the review page?
Sorry that I didn’t realise this was academic writing. I should have carefully considered my choice of words in order to best convey my message, and in particular make them “nitpicking-proof”.
That stuff gets promoted automatically but not set back is just nuts and lazy work from Niantice/Scopely tbh. You basically have already an automatic check for every cell. It would clean up all the [ mod edit] from the past, too, were the old system was abused to the maximum.
Think about it the other way. Why should players who are already using a gym, which is a valid waypoint, be penalized just because other waypoints in the area are invalid?
In the case I mentioned, that grid originally had four or five invalid waypoints and one valid one (the school campus as a whole had fourteen but it’s not all in one grid; one waypoint is an LFL two streets over from the school). I reported all of the school stops for removal at the same time. If they had all been removed at once, the off campus waypoint would not have been promoted; however some of the removals were denied and I had to appeal. During that process, there was a day where the grid had more than one active point and did not have a gym, so one was selected - it landed on the off campus one. Then the remaining school stops were correctly removed… why should that gym be altered at that point?
