I thought it might be fun to celebrate Earth Day - 22 April. Take time to think about our planet and the environment. Officially the theme this year is about renewable energy….but have you any wayspots that celebrate the environment. Often all that remains are the weirs, the buildings gone and nature has reclaimed the area. ![IMG_9327](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/wayfarer/original/3X/2/2/229b9b44e70890e13634c63db551e1dffa1e120f.jpeg) It never fails to amaze me how artists turn waste into something interesting and creative. ![IMG_9328](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/wayfarer/original/3X/d/f/df9b36a003fbc4ebcf1d7231cab88e0c47a49d3a.jpeg) And this amazing community project allowed hundreds of people to help form this mural made from different plastic bottle tops. So when you think of Earth Day …… what do you want to share. ---

Yes, I did indeed. No idea why they thought it was misplaced, its next to the wier which is very obvious on satellite 😬😆😆 can’t remember what the other reasons were. This is not the only amazing mural I’ve had to appeal 🤣 ---

Oooh. This is an art studio built on top of a landfill. They use the methane that builds up in the covered/topped landfill to fuel the furnaces used in glass-blowing and metal-working. When they started they thought they would only have enough gas for about 20 years. Since they are about to reach that milestone, they had another assessment done and the new estimate is that they probably have another 20 years worth of methane left to burn off. I’m also a little late (I think a lot of us were dealing with challenge ending on Earth Day), but I had 2 community gardens accepted this year. Sadly I cant submit my own roof 🤣 I got panels fitted a couple of years ago. I wish the tree I got planted onto public land nearby last year had some sort of information sign. There was a scheme with the local council called “trees for streets” which aimed to get people to nominate patches of council land for a tree to be planted to improve biodiversity and help increase tree cover! They picked hardy species which flower and fruit to benefit wildlife as much as possible! So we now have a crabapple tree in view and I love it. Kind of wish more people knew of the scheme as its still running ---
