Got this Trail Marker. Vinyl sticker on side of waste bin.

Does such a thing as being stuck on a bin make it fake. I have reviewed and moved on. I am not seeking review advice. I am just engaging in a casual conversation on what makes us go oh. Hmmm well.. I wonder is it real. Researched as much as I could and could not find same sticker on line. So.. Who knows…

My first reaction was fairly simple. I have never seen a trail marker on a waste bin. Full stop. Walking around. Across multiple countries. Let alone reviewing here. So A - either I am blind (fair call) or actually B it is a common thing (jaw on ground - and I need to observe more ) 🙂

So, it’s a real trail that’s still in the works:

> **[King Charles III England Coast Path](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Charles_III_England_Coast_Path)**
>
> The King Charles III England Coast Path (KCIIIECP), originally and still commonly known as the England Coast Path, is a long-distance National Trail that will follow the coastline of England. When complete, it will be 2,674 miles (4,303 km) long.
> Various parts of the English Coast already had coastal paths, most notably that of the South West Coast Path. However, with the passing of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, section 298 instructed Natural England to create a holistic Coastal Pat...

And yes, the logo for the trails is an upside-down acorn, as that’s the logo for the UK National Trails, so it may not be a fake.

I had this one earlier and had the same thoughts that something looked off as I agree I don’t think I have ever seen a marker slapped on a bin.

The trail does go past this location and as the are renaming some existing trails the national trail site says the following

"In some places, an existing National Trail will become part of the King Charles III England Coast Path. For example, the South West Coast Path, Norfolk Coast Path and the coastal part of the Cleveland Way. **You will see signs on the ground for the existing trail but also signs saying ‘part of the King Charles III England Coast Path’.**"

Under the find the path on the ground section.

I saw a different (more recognisable) style sticker for this trail, also on a bin

The bins are permanent fixed items, so I suppose I didnt think anything more of it than it being on a lamp post like usual

The trail clearly ran through that area so I approved it

I have one yet to submit and who knows when I might get to do it.

It’s real and I have this picture but I was surprised to see it on the bin.
They have used a mix of these flexible adhesive markers right through to metal ones with QR codes.

So it is certainly considered acceptable by the trail defining community 🤷‍♀️

Its possible tjat they just slapped it on whatever is most liekly to be permanent on the trail. Ive seen trail marker on lamposts, wooden aigns trees and benches, so bins isnt too far of a stretch

</div>

I lean towards fake, and even if it was not, I wouldn’t accept that as a wayspot. It’s not permanent nor distinct - anybody could peel of the sticker, then it would just be a garbage bin. In addition, garbage bins are one of the examples of what not to submit when viewing the Acceptance Criteria page.

Thank you everyone

So the message is - Mr Humming - you have eyes - use them 😉

@mrnatejo Ithought I had reviewed the NT site. Clearly not. Brilliant. Thank you

Well bearing in mind that I would never read anything on a waste bin- I am not sure it is the best place to put directional stickers 😉 But now I know not to ignore.

That is a good point @akyrimos

If bins are not accepted by Wayfarer - then does a route marker stuck on the bin make it acceptable. I know the nomation is for the trail markers but it is on the bin… And bins we are taught to reject

Nice one

I guess that depends on the community. At least in my area, i am sure its gonna be hard to be aporoved. I mean you can argue that the bins location seems fixed in that location, but at the same time, the bins really looks like movable / not permanent
