Hello
I have just been flagged for “Misplacement of Wayspot Submission”
The location submitted was about 5-10 metres from where the POI actually is and is down to an in-game GPS error.
The dropped pin on the Google Maps screenshot is where I submitted the POI and also shows the park benches very closely. I feel like receiving a strike for this is extremely unfair.
My in-game screenshot attached also shows just how close the locations are.
Red dot: POI location
Green dot: location where it was submitted
My submission also being declined for things such as “abuse” and “harassment” when it’s just a park bench is also very disappointing and incorrect.
Whether the POI is an eligible nomination or not, receiving a strike for Misplacement is extremely harsh and unfair. I have appealed the decision and I hope this gets reversed.
Welcome to the forum.
That is just how the string reads when any kind of abuse is flagged. There should be some “or’s” in there that are missing. The email made it clear that the warning is for misplacement.
One of the emails you received should have had an example of the infraction. Was it this Wayspot for certain?
If you would like our opinions on whether this is being too harsh, please share a screenshot showing where you placed the pin. The gps coordinates will be after the photos in the submission email if you still have that. Since you can still access your wayfarer account, you can share screenshots of the entire contribution, including the location pin. Your contributions page is at https://wayfarer.scopely.com/new/nominations.
You don’t need to share with any regulars here if you don’t want to. You can just be more careful from here on out. This is how the punishment ladder works, but be aware they can escalate if deemed appropriate. Wayfarer Abuse Enforcement Ladder Policy — Wayfarer Help Center
Often a staff member will start a DM here to discuss the issue in private. Their user names will begin with “ScopelyExp.”
The most common warning made on this forum is to advise people not to mislocate submissions in order to push them into empty cells to get a pokestop, as this risks both wayfarer and game accounts.
Even a few meters is sufficiently abusive when it is deliberate.
When something is visible on aerial images, it is difficult for Scopely Explore to believe that a mislocation is accidental or due to GPS drift, as you can see exactly where you are putting the pin and do not (and should not) have to rely on your GPS. Here, you also have lots of existing wayspots to help you with the location.
You will have another email saying exactly which wayspot was flagged.
