The link to exactly why I was so frustrated - EXTREMELY frustrating new system (PokemonGO)
And this is what I anticipated which is why I was so upset in the first place:
Scopely Explore Note
Thank you for your appeal, Wayfinder! It looks like the main image in your nomination is blurry and features live birds. We recommend reviewing the Wayspot photo guidelines for more clarity before submitting a new nomination. Also, an image of a clear signboard representing the Wayspot location will increase the chances of this nomination getting approved. We also recommend that you review the Wayspot content guidelines: Content Guidelines — Wayfarer Help Center
Reviewers provided these top reasons for not accepting this submission:
- The submission photo or information provided focused on a live animal instead of a specific object
My photos were blurry because they didn’t save when I took them through the nomination page, and I had to try and salvage the screenshots. I had a perfect picture of the full moon going down over the hill in the morning and it was ruined.
I also don’t get the bit about “focused on a live animal instead of a specific object”. There are vultures in the picture that roost on the cross but they were hardly the focus.
I’m including the picture I used for the wayspot followed by the supporting images.
Now I know I can probably just make the sign a wayspot, but for for the sake of the photography there are many wayspots in our town that could feature architecture or geography and instead show the standard state commemorative plaque / sign. So in an attempt to add variety I was trying to feature the hill and include the sign.
Any recommendations are appreciated! Thank you!
If the submission was for the sign, then the picture needs to show the sign.
Sorry, the submission was not for the sign. I titled it “Loma de la Cruz Trail Entrance.”
I don’t know why the live animal issue is listed as the top rejection reason, but the note makes clear these were rejected for the blurry photos. The screenshot is too low quality for a wayspot main photo. The colors look odd, too. The sign appears to have a warp in the middle on the main photo that isn’t there on the supporting. Maybe due to the method you used in trying to save the photos?
Depending on what the sign says since I can’t read it, I would probably go for the easier to accept photo of the sign for a new submission, then consider adding another photo later if you want a different look.
Yes, thank you. This was also to further highlight issues that may arise from the new nomination system. My original photos were never saved because they were taken through the form, and to get that exact photo with the moon and all only had a timeframe of a few minutes so big bummer on that one.
Caution moving forward.
I have been taking my photos first and looking at them before submitting for so long that I don’t remember ever doing it any other way. That way you always have the photo saved to try again if something goes wrong with the submission, and can pick and choose the best photos.
I tried going through the process of making a submission just now, and following from the in game prompts, I don’t get prompted to take a photo. I do get prompted to upload a photo. Maybe that is going to help going forward so people don’t run into a situation where they don’t have a saved photo. But maybe that is just my setup.
You are correct in the setup having a lot to do with it. I usually have most settings highly personalized so when I got to the place to make the stop not only was I surprised by the new form (I know there was an announcement but it didn’t become active in my game until some time later), I also encountered the other issues which pretty much ruined the whole plan. Frustrating way to start the weekend morning walk.
Thankfully we’ve pretty much worked it all out so hopefully it helps some other people at least!
