Following Up On Unresponsive Help Chat Ticket

Howdy,

I submitted a Help Chat ticket back on August 7th to report a cluster of obvious fake Wayspots. Annoyingly, as Help Chat tickets frequently do, the ticket disappeared and I can’t see any responses. It’s now been two weeks and I can see from the Submit map that the Wayspots are still live. Thus, I wanted to follow up and see if the forum staff can have a look at this. The ticket number was 43034217. Here are more details about the fake Wayspots:

“Dayton’s City 2nd Sign” at 46.303859,-117.959686

This sign actually exists here. If you scroll through the historic Street View photos there you can see an older version of the sign that is seen in the Wayspot photo. Note that the sign is already a Wayspot itself.

“Dayton Directional Sign” at 46.303810,-117.959426

This sign actually exists here, in Sanford, Florida, on the literal opposite side of the country. How the hell was this approved?

“Touchet Little Free Library” 46.303805,-117.959421

I actually have no idea where this library actually is, but you can see on Street View that it sure isn’t here.

“Dayton Historic Depot Interpretive Display” at 46.303791,-117.959375

This actually exists here. It is also already a Wayspot.

“The Golfer” at 46.303642,-117.959566

This statue actually exists here. Strangely enough it isn’t already a Wayspot, and would be a great candidate if it was actually in the right location.

Literally the same photo as the first one. Dude wasn’t even trying.

While you’re at it, I see another fake Wayspot has been approved in this same town since my last report:

“Dayton FFA” at 46.314926,-117.982671

A quick peruse through Google Street View shows that this location is actually a single-family residence, and a Google search shows that the Dayton High School FFA Chapter (unsurprisingly) meets at Dayton High School, not this random house.

Hold the presses, here’s another fake Wayspot in the same town:

“Park’s Little Free Library” at 46.315181,-117.995500

This little free library actually exists here.

Generally, this is either lazy reviewers doing no checking of wayspot but just accepting things that seem like they meet criteria regardless of everything else, or deliberate abuse such as a review circle or multiple accounts.
