Hi, I’m a new reviewer here and confused. If a title or description is in eligible because it includes somebody’s name, where is the line on plaques and so forth that are put up in honor of somebody and show their name? I understand why the historical ones are OK, but I ran into a little free library that has a little sign on top “ from the library of (name)” which was included in the description on the way stop. If names like that that aren’t eligible then what choice do you use to mark them; accuracy-other?
Another one I’d like another opinion on - Church signs that have the pastor’s name. Okay or nay?
The name of the person being honored is allowed and encouraged. The names that are not allowed are ones that reveal the submitter’s identity or are game names, or have nothing to do with the nomination.
https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help/description-guidelines notes on this:
Do submit descriptions that:
Credit artists for artwork such as murals and sculptures whenever possible
Don’t submit descriptions that:
Include the names/initials/identifiers of anyone who is not relevant to the nomination
I hate to say it is okay without a specific example. It is always easier to help if you can screenshot what you are looking at for us. But this sounds acceptable.
I did understand the hard and fast rule on including player names and so forth. So sounds like the judgment call is whether or not the name is relevant to the actual nomination. I guess my judgment call would be if someone approved their name to be posted on a plaque or sign shown in public, then it’s public and acceptable.
The confusion was elevated by one of my Emily rejections - only thing I could come up with was that it had a name as part of a business name showing on a sign in the background. Guess that wasn’t it.
We would be happy to take a look at that nomination in Nomination Support if you would like to share it.
Sorry I didn’t take a screenshot and it’s gone timed out now.
Oh you meant my nomination. I resubmitted with closer picture if that one gets bounced too maybe I will head over to nomination support.
no worries. i meant for future questions when you review. blanket statements are hard and almost everything has an exception. unless it is strictly mentioned as not eligible, like being on SFPRP (single family private residential property) or K-12 (facilities for children) grounds.
