Geographic error - outdated K-12 Map Blockage in Chapeau, Quebec, Canada

Hello. I am a rural player on an island village in Quebec with no cell infrastructure. We rely entirely on a random bar of cell service floating in the ether that is sometimes strong enough for a connection or we connect to public wifi from the municipal office or community centre to play pokemon while walking around our tiny village.

Our community gameplay mapping is being automatically blocked by an outdated map tag. The old building on 104 rue Notre-Dame in Chapeau used to house the elementary school and high school but the grade school was moved years ago. The new elementary school, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, is located at 89 chemin de Pembroke, well away from this location in question. Half of the structure at 104 Notre Dame is now private residential (the east half on King/Notre Dame which housed the grade school), and the other half on the west side is Dr Wilbert Keon High School (grades 8-11). Because the overall map area is still flagged as a K-6 elementary school, the game’s automated filters are instantly blocking all community exploration submissions. Can a community manager please look at the map data for Chapeau, QC and clear the dead elementary school zone boundary? I have submitted a note on the OSM website with the same information as i am posting here.

This tiny village has a few pokestops and two gyms, a couple of Max spots open up too, but we are seriously isolated. there are no routes around simply due to the lack of cell service. so, i have been trying to create a route to finally clear some research tasks and benefit from this part of the game. it has been so frustrating since the bots rejected my route submission and appeal in seconds so i am well aware no human read the 1000 word appeal plea. i would be extremely grateful if someone can help a girl out. i just want to create a single loop route in my little village of 400 people that can utilize the free public wifi in the centre of the path. no children will be at risk. it is a route we all use for our daily walks. the seniors and the church welcome the traffic. we are more afraid of the high schoolers than they are of us lol. PLEASE help me!!

Hi and welcome! It is hard to understand what problem you are experiencing - be aware that AI tools are often bad and incorrect with Wayfarer-related terms, and there also seem to be a lot of assumptions made. For example, it’s unclear what “community exploration submissions” are.

If you are only submitting routes and it’s route rejections that are the problem, unfortunately this forum cannot help you with this, since this is a Pokémon GO feature. You can appeal rejected routes in the corresponding Pokémon GO interface or contact Pokémon GO support if there appear to be issues.

If this seems to be about wayspot submissions, please clearly say so.

Are you trying to nominate wayspot? I dont think this is true. If you share complete detail on your nomination (title, description, original foto, surrounding foto, information, location), we will be able to advise if its possible to improve your nomination..

In the other hand, if you disagree with your nomination review result, you can appeal. Wayfarer staff will review appeal. You have 2 appeals, each with 15days cooldown

Thanks for the reply. I did not use AI so not sure what that’s about. Community exploration submissions = routes. My problem was less about the route submission process and more about the assignment of a building on OSM as a grade school and how to fix this so the only possible route around the village can be mapped for use. That’s all. I understand this is a Pokémon go issue re routes but thought maybe someone here could assist with the building designation problem. Thanks.

This is about a route having a grade school designated building on it that is no longer used by the school. I am not sure why stop nominations are in the mix. Thanks for your reply in any case.

This is the wayfarer forum, so people were thinking you were on about wayspot nominations being blocked.

The Route feature is not part of wayfarer, but rather a Pokémon Go specific feature, and thus it’s not really a relevant topic for this forum.

That being said, Pokémon Go tends to update the OSM data that it uses on a global basis, and there is no schedule to it. You will have to make sure that the area is tagged correctly (if you aren’t able to do that yourself, you may need to find a local OSM contributor to help you with it), and then hope that the update is included next time they do a data sync (which could be several months from now). Though if half of the building is still used as a school, this may still cause issues for your Route creation anyway.
