Gym with poor to no reception

One of the gyms in my nearby area is in a location that has very poor to no reception and is hardly playable when raiding or catching pokemon. ive been kicked out of raids multiple times and experienced extreme lag, is very frustrating. Its a universal thing its not just my carrier, all fellow players experience the same as the gym is located quite close to a lake which doesnt allow for the best connection so was just wondering if theres anything we could do about this. relocate gym or decide on another wayspot so players can actually use it with no issues?

Basically you have to keep it as it is…..

And hope that things improve.

It is frustrating. But it is what it is in a game that uses the real world.

ah that is unfortunate, ive lived here my whole life and the lake has always been bad reception so im afraid it cant improve but thank you for the reply!

You just need to treat that gym as being out of action and use others. This happens for various reasons.

Near me, an area containing about eight gyms is out of action for anyone that isn’t blue, for the purposes of collecting coins, as there is a set of players who will go round and kick anyone out within a hour or so. These might even be real players, but other people experience this with spoofers.

When you come across this, your best response is often to move on to somewhere else.

I have a gym like this in my town. It is an unfortunate position, in a real deadspot of reception. It is ok either side of it, but around the range of the gym is exactly where the deadspot is.

Many spots around the world have little to no mobile service. In the early Ingress days, there was a whole subculture for those for focused on difficult to reach spots.

Some techniques I remember being discussed:

  • Mobile phone service extenders (fancy antennas and what not)
  • Have one person stay in service and everyone else tether from them (can be extended with multiple devices that can share WiFi in a long chain)
  • Satellite phone services with Internet access

But quality mobile service has never been a criteria.
