Although this was a gym, so at risk of an abusive report, this removal is legitimate.
Streetview (2024) shows the image below at the entrance and the entrance sign above looks like it is no longer being maintained. The google reviews confirm this - the last one is 3 years ago and states “The campground was completely run down”; before that is “Toilets and showers were not available”, “No bathrooms no showers, no laundry. No dump station sites are unkempt” and “Not maintained.”
Everything points to this campsite being closed.
It only says that because I reported to Google that it was permanently closed and they clearly agreed. Very quickly - they did it within 5 minutes, since it was showing “temporarily closed” when I looked (and reported it).
I would love to see stats on the influence of keeping location data up to date made by Wayfarers. This is a very cool side benefit to our hobby.
Thanks for the appeal, @ILikeGamesPogo! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
