There was no rejection email it was just removed from the game for no reason. It is on a public sidewalk and not private property. It is on the side of the sidewalk that is publicly owned by the town and next to the street. It used to be a gym, but when it was removed that switched to a different nearby pokestop. This is a directional wayfinding sign that leads visitors of the town and residents through the public sidewalks to a very historic museum called the Hermitage.
There are no notifications when an approved location is later removed, except to the person who reported it for removal.

IMO: The Sign does not fit Criteria.
The sign is not a great place to Socialise, Exercise or Explore. It is just saying “Something Interesting is over there”.
“The Hermitage” is what is interesting not the sign so if this comes to staffs attention it is correct that it was removed.

Agree, location is visible and appears to be safe, so probably removed for not meeting criteria.
