How to review Mozaïc Tile subsmissions

Hi,

Lately I see Mozaïc Tile submissions again, I always skip them because a few years ago there where a lot of fake submissions with Mozaïc tiles, that ended up in removing all Wayspots with Mozaïc tiles in the Netherlands both fake and the good Wayspot submissions of street art created by artists in official projects

Now I saw this submission (see photos), I’ll skip this because there’s no artist name etc. but how should we review these?

Can we accept Mozaïc Tiles and if so, under what circumstances/conditions should we accept or reject is eligible or ineligible?

Maybe this topic has been answered before but I couldn’t find it.

Staff have said to reject home made objects. You can use the “not distinct” rejection reason. I would only accept these with extensive proof of sanctioned art project in the supporting, and maybe not even then.

Here is an example discussion.

I have had mosaic tiles approved from different projects.

In each case there was good online evidence from official sources I could provide about the projects, the purpose of making the tiles, themes etc and locations. The were organised and lead by a local art collective so clear evidence of their artistic merit was available.

So I was able to demonstrate their validity.

To be clear, saying in the description that it is an exhibition as in the example shown is not the same thing as @elijustrying described with offering evidence.

Thanks for the quick answer.

In this case I didn’t see that it was home made but I also didn’t see any proof that it was part of an exhibition.

Thanks, that makes sense

Honestly, this one looks like it’s in the space where a driveway enters the road? That would make it unsafe, in my opinion.

Definitely looks like it will fail on “Safe Access”…

In the Netherlands that’s an area where you can walk and bike safely, the cars should drive really slow there, max 15 km, it’s called (de auto is te gast)

Children play on streets like this.

The Netherlands is a really small country, with a high population and we walk and bike everywhere where it’s allowed except for the highway, or when there’s a dedicated bike lane or sidewalk.

Some streets are very small and that’s why in these cases slow traffic always have priority before fast traffic.

Just to give you some indo clarification about our cities, streets and traffic

If we couldn’t walk on streets like this, there’s nowhere we can walk  and a lot of people don’t have a car or even a drivers license because in cities we can walk or bike everywhere and there are almost no parking lots

So it is safe to walk, but this was a question about the tiles, I skipped the review but wanted to know how to review them in the future.

It’s not unsafe, you can safely walk there, see How to review Mozaïc Tile subsmissions - #9 by KarKryptonite

It’s the Netherlands, walking, biking, and children playing on the streets

My question was about Mozaïc tiles in general, I allready skipped it because I questioned The Mozaïc Tile Wayspot

You asked how you should Review these? and you showed an example.

My answer is by “ALL” the criteria.

The amount or speed of traffic does not change the criteria. If traffic is expected to use the location of the nomination then it should be Rejected.

As kids we often played football on the road, I can’t nominate it as a sports field

Remember that within criteria it is expected that a group could stand at the wayspot allowing you to interact with it without the risk of vehicles that are sharing the space.

I believe that I answered your questions adequately, if you don’t agree then you may need to look at how you wrote those questions.

I agree, I couldn’t find any proof of an exhibition online, it also looked a bit homemade in my opinion

Especially with tricky objects like these, it is up to the nominator to provide proof that it is an official art piece. So if that is not provided you will have to use your own best judgement.
