Not sure if this will go anywhere and or if anything will come from this but I believe that powerspots should have a multi purpose and also be pokestops just like how gyms have multiple functions as they work as pokestops, raids and to gain coins, I just know many people that don’t have pokestops near them and I don’t see any harm in having a feature that brings more pokestops to people that’s in need of them, as it could bring more enjoyment to people that don’t have much going on near them.
Hello and welcome @touka1997
Powerspots are a mix of 2 types.
Some are wayspots found and submit through wayfarer or it previous versions but previously unused by Pokemon GO.
Some (the majority???) come from data points brought in specifically for this purpose.
The later set have been seen to not meet the normal inclusion standards that we are expected to adhere to for wayfarer. I have seen plenty myself that are in the middle of roads or other places that would not be considered safe. The also are often on peoples homes. Safe access and not being on single family private residential property are 2 major concerns about attracting people to a location and the potential for issues.
Some are actually places that would be ok and wayfinders have been submitting them in order to turn them into pokestops/gyms.
The game designers it would appear created them to look and behave differently.
There are discussions in this forum about access to wayspots perhaps have a look at some of those topics.
In the end of the day this is not something wayfarer controls as it is a pokemeon Go developer decision as to how the points are used.
That’s a fair point but I will say that powerspots could be more of a danger than pokestops, mainly as pokestops are more used to walk past and collect items as they’re heading that way, but powerspots encourage groups of people to go to the location, stop and stand in the area to complete the battle, and they really need to look more into the current concept as I think it’s a little backwards, I always thought a safer idea would be to make the current pokestops be multipurpose and also act as powerspots so we don’t have these issues, and they could have a grid that only certain amount of pokestops will turn into powerspots and a few days later switch to a different one.
Totally agree that the imports seem like a strange idea, maybe that is why they started to also use unused waypoints.
One day the unused waypoints may take over and the imports will be removed.
Possible “Challange”: How many imported powerspots can you get changed to proper waypoints?
Closing this thread as this is not a Wayfarer issue.
