Additional Information (if any): The plaza was recently renovated and this plaque/monument was completely removed from the location. Attached are updated photos of the area showing that the original stone/structure is now empty and the plaque no longer exists. Please remove this invalid Wayspot.
The plaza was renovated, which is why the background and ground surrounding the monument look different now.
However, this is the exact same support structure where the plaque used to be attached. The plaque was removed during the renovation over 2 years ago and was never replaced.
The low-down parking area behind the stone seat (?) in your images is not new. In the wayspot photo, that area is not a parking area, but gravel at the same height as the stone which is definitely not a seat. I cannot see these as the same place.
The tree behind the wayspot is the light coloured smoother trunk where as the one in your images is a larger thicker older tree.
Recommend an image using the same angle so the same tree is visible.
Removal of the plaque will have also left damage from the screw holes. An image where this can be see as well as the correct tree in the background will be better evidence.
Here are two older photos of the plaza before the renovation.
As you can see, the area behind the monument used to be elevated with grass and trees where the parking spots and lower road are now located. This explains why the background in the original Wayspot photo looks completely different from the current location.
Ah, found a 2011 streetview location, which includes the location of the street parking in your first image. This strongly indicates that the parking area has not been lowered in the past 15 years.
Comparing the original photo with the recent ones, is it possible to confirm that this is the exact same location and the same tree, only without the plaque?
I cannot, as it looks like a different tree and a different stone (?) structure. One is a seat with a flush top and the other has a plaque embedded into a surface. To turn one into the other would require complete replacement.
The tree in the wayspot has white, maybe bark, maybe paint.
@iioov since you are new to the forum, I wanted to be sure that you understood that staff members who can make this decision will have names here that begin with “ScopelyExp”. @salixsorbus is bringing up great points that you should address for this appeal. We see a lot of requests here where people have reported the point of interest for a Wayspot is gone, then we find out it was in game as a gym, and the person just wanted the gym somewhere else, which is abuse. So we try to make sure that the person requesting removal has made an excellent case. You only need to address questions from staff here.
The structure was actually renovated, not completely removed: the plaque was taken down, the top surface was smoothed over, and it was repainted. That is why the plaque is no longer there.
Regarding the tree: it is indeed the same tree. The white mark seen in the old photo was just white paint applied to the trunk, which has faded or washed away over time.
The original Wayspot photo is of very poor quality with weak reference points, making comparison difficult, but I have already provided photos from before the renovation to show this is the exact same location. Is there any other specific detail or angle that would help clarify this for you?
Myself, I cannot believe that those are the same structure, as the top surface of the one you photographed is a complete solid object, with no repair marks. With that material, it would not be possible to infill like that.
However, the decision is not mine, but one for Scopely Explore. I am merely saying why I do not think the appeal will succeed.
I am following up on this removal request, as it has been 3 weeks (21 days) since I submitted it. Could you please take a look at the evidence provided when you get a chance?
