Is it worth submitting this Allotment?

Hi everyone. I have been wondering for a while as to whether I should nominate this or not.

I have submitted allotments before with high success rate on approval, but I believe this is different as it does not have any obvious permanent signage (based on Google Streetmaps). Any input would be welcomed. (I am aware of the other allotment further up the road, and may consider submitting that one when I can).

I can’t check the links rn but yes I would always submit an allotment :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’ve had them acceptedwithout signs

You will need something more than a fence. something that shows the actual plots.

And with websubmit I would take a screenshot of the official council page for a supplementary image . ( link in the supplementary text)

How would I best describe this (generically) to give it glimour of hope?

That might be tough as the allotments are further back, but will see what I can find when I visit.

I have blagged my way in saying I’m mostly harmless and may I take a photo.

These small allotments date back to June 1932 when the 2 acre plot was bought by the council. The allotment community often hosts open events and has glut boxes that people can use.

Acts of Parliament in 1922 & 1925 meant local authorities had to provide areas of land for allotments to be established. Today they are as popular as ever as people want to grow there own fruit and veg. This allotment was created in 1949 as the housing estate developed. Open days allow people to get gardening tips and the glut box is available for anyone to pick up excess food.

Are those helpful for starters?

I see glut boxes are a feature :joy:

If you can get in then there looks like there is a communal container/hut so there may be a noticeboard /sign

You could try where the other yellow circle is - there may be a view into the allotments for a picture.

If not the capital ring is nearby so other possible submittable stuff.

I think they have open days, but will need to check. Don’t fancy gatecrashing their party. :man_facepalming:

They may well have open events at this time of year.
