Hi,
We have a local port that has a Gym and Power Spot that is inaccessible on foot. I know that doesnt immediately rule the area out as a possible POI location but im unclear if the details around the port would cause it to be an invalid location?
Gym Name: Rosyth Cruise Terminal
GPS Location: Google Maps
This port is managed by Babcock and the entire area is classed as a naval base for the Ministry of Defence:
Public foot access to Port Babcock Rosyth is strictly prohibited because the site is an active, secure industrial dockyard and cruise terminal. Passengers and visitors cannot walk from the berth or surrounding public roads into the facility; all entry requires authorization through security gates.
The main rule is simple: you cannot walk out of Rosyth cruise terminal. It is an active secure site, so every passenger needs some form of transport through the terminal gates. Keep your cruise card and photo ID with you. Security is part of the day, not an optional extra.

Should these POIs be removed?
Thanks,
Welcome to the forum
As long as the wayspots are not interfering with naval operations, there is no issue. Not every wayspot has to be accessible to everyone - they have to be accessible to the people who are allowed to be there.
A cruise terminal sounds safe enough to me
Its this that isnt clear though because its not as simple as that, there are so many caveats to that statement, one example:
I have tried to submit an outdoor chess set at work as a pokestop but it was declined for not being publicly accessible, despite, as you say, it is accessible to those allowed to be there.
The rules are clear, but reviewers don’t always get it right.
Part of the problem is that review process implies that “private property” is a reason for rejection, and you have to do more than a surface dive to release what this actually means. The review process can lead reviewers into thinking all private property is a problem, which is definitely not the case.
Ah, definitely going to retry some private property stops!
Thanks for your help
Private property and similar rejections:
- farms (unless there is public access such as cafe, playground etc)
- operational spaces on military bases
- interfering with emergency service operations
- single-family private residential property including the external boundary
- schools for under 18s etc
You may be able to appeal some, rather than new submissions.
Considering the comments on this thread, it might be reasonable to take a couple you want to retry, and get feedback on here.
