I’m newer to reviewing nominations. I find a lot of time the pin is not on the POI. I usually use the option to suggest a different location and drag the pin to where it should be. If the pin is very far off I select the thumbs down on accurate location and reject the nomination.
I just thumbs downed a nomination for a unique cafe POI, I had to use Google Maps to help me confirm the pin and address provided was 15 city blocks away at a gas station. Maybe I should have reported that one as abuse? Is that potentially an honest mistake because they nominated down the street and the pin dropped at their GPS location?
I’m looking for some guidance on this because I find the pin is rarely exactly where it should be. I’m not sure when to ignore it, vs. drag, vs. reject, vs. report. Can someone please assist me with finding official guidelines for pin location in review?
My usual process depends on what I believe the nominator was trying to achieve.
- Small inaccuracy within the same cell - Use the Suggest New Location.
- Moved in to an empty neighbouring cell - Reject for Location Accuracy.
- Large distance & Looks like they are trying for a Couch Stop - Report as Abuse otherwise just Reject.
Thanks for responding. I don’t seem to have the ability to see where the cells are in nomination. How do you see the cells?
That’s not something that is displayed without 3rd party plugins and as such it is irrelevant to reviewing
There are tools but we are not allowed to link them on here, a search for Wayfarer Tools should point you in the right direction.
The cells are not visible unless you use 3rd party tools.
I find there is no need to see the cells when reviewing.
And I do much as you describe. Make a suggestion of the correct location, for small errors, or reject inaccurate for larger ones.
I am reviewing the way you are. Especially since we are seeing reports of the pin being moved unexpectedly with Web Submit, I am assuming it was just an error unless I have another reason to be convinced it is abuse.
The only official guidance I can find is at https://wayfarer.scopely.com/new/help/reviewing-a-wayspot-nomination which still refers to the old review system which used stars.
https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/faq/2059-reviewing-a-wayspot-nomination/ is the same information. And neither gives best practices. But it makes sense to me to try to find the correct location for a Wayspot if I can. And only report if I have a really good reason to believe it is abuse.
