This came across my review queue; I ended up saying all photos met the criteria but just wanted to throw a post on here as I haven’t seen a Wayspot like this before, and my only involvement with its review was this photo submission.
The Wayspot itself is just “Animal Murals” and the description specifies it’s a collection of different animal paintings. This is the first time I’ve seen a Wayspot for a collection of things, with the photos being that of every individual “thing” in that collection (in this case, the different animals).
I looked up the Wayspot (40.676803, -89.536032) and the only photo on it right now is of the elephant mural. Technically these photos are all acceptable but I was curious as to what would be the protocol for a collection like this: should the submitter (whether the original nominator or someone adding more photos) try to take a photo with as many of the murals as possible? Or are individual photos like these okay?
My understanding is that mural have several animal drawn in the same area as a set. I would treat them as one. if the mural is in different wall and have different theme, perhaps it can be another wayspot.
I don’t think there’s anything technically wrong with the mural’s images being separated out, but you are correct that a photo showing the whole collection would be preferable, if such a thing were possible (I don’t know how these are actually oriented, so perhaps it isn’t).
Given that they seem to be inside a building, I guess we will never know.
A lot of Wayfarer is using your best judgement. I hate when submitters give me something to review that feels icky but I am not sure it is wrong. I think that accepting them all was fine, but I most likely would have skipped this one. The community has observed that we get 100 skips, each on a 24 hour timer before we get it back. Staff have confirmed that using skips does not hurt our rating. If I study something and can’t decide, I use a skip. If submissions stay in the queue long enough, staff will eventually decide them internally. I am not sure how long that time period is now.
