My Nomination should have been accepted. It met all criteria

Please provide:

  • A screenshot of your nomination, including rejection reasons if it has already been rejected

  • Include the title, description, both photos, and supplemental information
Title: “Northern end of west-most open public greenspace maintained by Pelican Bay HOA”
Description: “North end of football-field sized Pelican Bay HOA open greenspace; conveniently and publicly available by public walkways in-between houses.”
Supplemental Info: “Very spacious; can accommodate large groups; publicly available. Safe, easy pedestrian access. Great for families whose kids play here and for other nearby residents and visitors. Great to encourage walking and exercise.”
  • Copy and paste the title, description and supplemental so others can translate them
  • If you feel comfortable please share the location, as it is helpful (i.e. hidden duplicates), but you can mask it if you wish.

It is on HOA (homeowner’s association) land; NOT privately owned. There is public access to it (public pathway to it in-between houses); it is accessible to the general public. (Do I need to provide more pictures showing the designated pathways?) It promotes exercise, and this park greenspace is football-field sized; can accommodate large groups. A perfect Wayspot. Meets all criteria. No reason to be rejected.

The address shown might match a primary residence address; but this is NOT their land - it’s simply because the greenspace doesn’t have its own address - it’s community land shared between all local residents AND available to the general public through public pathways into it; and it’s maintained by the local HOA.

Hello,

From the images you have posted it does look like a grass field.

These can be eligible but also difficult.

What does it have that makes this encourage the main 3 criteria that could not be said in most places.

  • Exercise: I can walk / run on the side walk at the front of my house.
  • Explore: Is there anything out of the ordinary to look out for.
  • Socialise: Is there a seating area that encourages people to meet up.

Good Luck

It’s not a duplicate. One nomination was from the North end of the park area (football field sized); the other is from the South side.

Is this the area?

This does not look like a designated place to do something as much as it looks like land they just haven’t done anything with. Does that difference make sense? What is there to encourage people to exercise, explore, or be social? Just being a place that they can do any of those things is not enough.

The satellite view is very dark here, so I may be missing something. Is there any indication that this is property specifically reserved for common use of the community? Any signs? Any structures?

I don’t see the rejection reason on your contribution. The text in the screenshot looks really odd to me and I am having trouble reading it. Was this rejected by the “automated process”?

Yeah, from the satellite view, i would be wary about calling this a greenspace. This looks like back yard area for these homes. I have nominated some spaces situated similarly but there was structure to the space that clearly showed it was a courtyard. It didn’t just look like a yard.

Why would two ends of the same field be two separate things?
