Hi friends,
I’m posting in search of help with understanding why my report of what I believe to be a falsified Waypost was rejected. The wayspot in question is at: -33.731509,151.279372
About 2 weeks ago i came across this submission in a review and noticed the image looked off and also didn’t match the surroundings on GSV, so i did a reverse image search and found the original image which was posted about year ago on Facebook:
I reported it during the review as a fake nomination. A few days later when reviewing again, I noticed it as an approved Wayspot in the nearby section, so went back to it and tried reporting it again and adding a link to the Facebook post as proof that it wasn’t an original image. The report has since been rejected and that is where we are now.
Are all reports reviewed by humans or are some done algorithmically?
Did I do something wrong or was it simply rejected because I didn’t include enough information (I feel given evidence is sufficient)?
Do i need to travel 700km just to take a photo of an empty spot to prove its fake?
None of these were accepted Wayspots when I first looked into the original, but now that it has been surrounded by a large amount of suspicious POIs in a short amount of time it certainly adds to the situation.
It will probably take a while, I reported a location with a lot of fake wayspots a couple of weeks ago, they are all still there, I did get a notification after a week that they are still looking into it, so I guess they are very busy.
I have added a “Map Bookmark” to the map to keep an eye on this. If they are still there in a few days and staff haven’t commented here then I will report. Got to let me reports build up again
