Hello, I have been an active pokemon go player for some time, however my experience has been subpar. I live in a very rural area, not even in a town, and no towns or villages are within walking distance. Because of this, there are zero pokestops or gyms anywhere need my home. Where I live, their are fields on all directions and 100% private property, all of which cant be turned into pokestops or gyms. If anyone could reach out with possible ways to create stops in an area devoid of anything potentially nominatable, it would be very appreciated!

I have read the thread, though i thank you for the idea. My location is the south west corner of shebly county ohio, where it meets with miami county. I have done fairly extensive research on things in country/rural areas that count, but my area has no public land at all, as it is all fields and a few homes. Additionally, the roads bradford bloomer/miller (it has 2 names for some reason) is has high traffic and unsafe to walk by, and that is the only nearby road with a pokestops anywhere nearby, but even that pokestops in still several miles away, and hard to access. If you or someone else could check my situation out and have any ideas for stops/potential gyms it would be much appreciated!

It’s hard to know where to post and this does sound a challenge

Wow. There just isn’t any area anywhere near this pin that would be eligible, as you said. How far out should we look?
Is there a play area behind this church? If not, would they consider putting up a little free library by the back entrance?
A significant to the area tombstone in the cemetery, like one of the founders for example?
A second stop here would make one become a gym, so you would at least have that.
I appreciate the help, however their is one slight issue, that being the topography and usage of the road. I isually play via walking, and that road has a lot of traffic, as well as hills where in is hard to see upcoming cars. The idea is still appreciiated and i may still go through with that if nothing else arises.

Its good, its just slighty frustrating how baiased thefame is towards people in cities. I dditn know about the goode priare stop though, and a 3ish mile walk is still technically possible, so ill keep it in mind. Thank you for your help!
Personally I think I would have got board of the game if I was in a city

You do seem to have the extreme opposite problem.
Scopely are trailing adding wayspots that do not match criteria in certain areas but they seem to have chosen where there are players but wayspots per player is low. Maybe 2 wayspots to 1 player (you) is classed as high
Maybe they will do something similar for the proper rural areas sometime.
One suggestion I do see often is that with the area being so Rural we assume you do have to travel to other places, shopping etc. Maybe concentrate on those areas. At least you can play on those days.
Hopefully someone better than me at the map spotting will come up with more ideas.

Well, thank yall for your help. I’ll those ideas in mind. My only saving grace is getting free pokeballs from the daily incense, and getting friend gifts. I’ll have to look in to the adding of pokestops in rural areas when their arent many around. I appreciate the help!
I have been looking around the area for ideas for as well. Here is the thing, I’d be careful saying the game is “biased” toward people in cities, It’s a live service game that is based on real world points of interest. That is inherintly going to favor areas with more eligible objects. It’s not Scopley Explore or Pokemon Go choice or decision to keep people in rural out of the action. Wayfarer has inclusion criteria, as I’m sure you know because you’ve been reseaching.
To this end, most recently Scopely Explore has begun adding “street corners” and “bus stops” in rural areas in order to help explorers such as you. Although I don’t see in your area.
Now, I realize none of this helps you. That being said, are you able to get to Versallies? There are some areas that can be expanded there to add more POI’s and can befcome Pokestops and Gyms.
Hell of a problem to have. Australia has the same issue in some rural spaces. But WayPoints do appear. And by the road - as in most country place the grass verge is your a space to get off of the road when cars come. Same in the UK too.
Where I found places with a dearth of wapoints I took my thing to creating good waypoints where I can. At any opportunity. So passing folk can get a chance of more game play POIs. I don’t get to do as often as I did. But getting into the mind set of creating where I could became as important as playing the game.
Knowing that not only would I have waypoints near by (If accepted) but it is really rewarding to see your nominations come to life. And to know other players really appreciate it. And potentially gives other players in the area greater opportunity for the ways they play games.
I will say I am not sure it is deliberately biased at all towards the city per se. The game was founded on waypoints. You need things to be waypoints. Some areas have more - some less. Even people in cities whinge they have no waypoints (quite common around suburbs and particularly new estate builds). Seriously whinge and kick up a storm - they should try living where you do !!!

I have a possible idea, though ik not sure of the validity. About 1.5 years ago there was a solar eclipse in the area, and people went to the corner of the road to watch the eclipse, so I wonder if i could nominate the corner as a area where there was an event? Either way, I’ll try to see if i could somehow let Niantic know there are no pokestops nearby.

You can try working with your community to set up LFL or similar in public area (but this must be done officially by community and not just homemade object - proof or some sort of publication is expected). Simply saying its community project is not enough
Attempting to manufacturing wayspot using homemade object is subject to abuse ladder system.
If the area around is just “fields on all directions and 100% private property” (assuming you mean single family residence), it is possible there is nothing to nominated.
Instead, think about where you go for recreation, shopping , entertainment, etc. That may be the areas you need to look at building up for stops and gyms. This has the added benefit that you’re already going there for other reasons.

The park in the town to the north has potential for more pokestops if you are careful about thier placement. Never place the pin away from the object to create a pokestop! You do have choices though when submitting large sports fields like this. Look up s2 cells.
