I was not very familiar with how location edits work from the game. While trying to adjust the position within the park, I unintentionally moved the PokéStop to a different point.
I did not realize the impact this change would have, and when I noticed, the edit was already in voting so I could not cancel it.
Both locations are within the park, but the previous one better represented the main accessible area. After the change, it stopped appearing in Pokémon GO.
My intention is only to correct this situation while keeping the Wayspot accurate.
This is the question I am trying to get to understand. Why were you trying to adjust the position within the park? I apologize if I am confusing you.
If you would rather answer in another language, we can translate.
I don’t see where we have shared this article about how S2 cells appear to be used in Pokemon Go for future reference: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/ This is all community observation and Niantic does not acknowledge this algorithm. But they do acknowledge an “additional automated review.”
However, the change was not intentional for gameplay reasons. I was trying to adjust the position without fully understanding how location edits work, and I ended up moving it unintentionally.
When I realized the impact, it was already in voting and I could not revert it.
The previous location was also accurate and better represented the main accessible point of the park.
I am only trying to correct that unintended change and I didn’t know this could cause the PokéStop to disappear.
Look, of course I’ve seen the park in real life, in fact I always see it because it’s close to my house, and that’s why I tell you the original location is better than the current one, I’m not saying that the current one is wrong either, but the original one was more precise and functional, and if you wonder why I changed it, it was because of a mistake, apart from not knowing that it could disappear I did it mainly to test and that was a big mistake of mine, that is, I didn’t know about this one, and why do you say that wayfarer has not have to do?
It’s the game teams that decide on the criteria that determines which will be used and for what.
With what you have said the previous request should probably have been rejected but for the purpose of Wayfarer…
Is the waypoint in a “correct” location? Yes.
Is it Safe? Yes.
Is it on prohibitive areas (Schools, SFPRP etc)? No.
Does the waypoint meet the criteria? Yes.
Does the waypoint exist in the real world? Yes.
The fact that the waypoint no longer exists “in game” is not a matter for Wayfarer as it currently meets all wayfarer criteria.
The only reason that Wayfarer are likely to move the waypoint is if you can state and show evidence that the old location is more accurate without mentioning that it is missing in game.
Up to now the only reason you have given is that it no longer appears in game and this is not something that Wayfarer will consider when editing a location.
Oh my bad, but how can I prove that? Like I said, I live near the park. Do you think taking some pictures of it would help show that the original location was more accurate than the current one?
Of course. The photo was taken at an entrance, and the current location is in the center. That’s why I think the original location is better. I agree with you that moving it would be fine, as long as it stays inside the park. That’s mainly what I want, since it’s currently not functional.
I dont think you got much chance unless it was located on south east entrance.
Becareful here. Moving wayspot just to test is subject to abuse ladder system. You are basically admitting you are moving wayspot from its correct location. I got my 30days suspension before because i am attempting to move it away from its correct loc
Of course, it was a mistake, but I was trying to move it to a more accurate location. I just placed it wrong. Here, I’ll show you where the original photo was taken.
Since this is not bug, i dont know what staff gonna do. The correct procedure when location is wrong is by asking location edit. Since staff already approve edit request, its considered correct. moving wayspot again from correct location is subject to abuse ladder system. If staff didnt respond after 1-2weeks, i suggest you to use help chat and keep the ticket number.
Be advised, that it may not return to original location because current location is already considered correct. Attempting to move it might be seen as abuse
You seem to be missing the critical point about the location edit, which I made earlier. It’s not just you. It goes through an approval process, and only gets approved if it’s “better” somehow, in terms of accuracy of what it represents.
They do not approve all of them - I myself had one denied, because it was judged that the existing point and my suggestion were both EQUALLY accurate. (I was trying to move a spot representing a shrine containing a statue, from the entrance to the actual statue.)
The fact that it had unintended in- game effects is not grounds to have it reversed.
I understand what you’re saying, but my case is different. I was trying to move the PokéStop to a more accurate location (it was functional at the time), but I made a mistake during the edit and didn’t know how to cancel the submission. It ended up being accepted, and then the PokéStop disappeared. I’d like it to be moved back to its original location, or a nearby spot, so it can be functional again. I don’t see this as abuse it was just a mistake I’m trying to fix. Also, the PokéStop is currently not functional by a very small margin.
I appreciate that this is very difficult but the fundamental issue is that your action turned out to be a mistake.
It is unfortunate that it happened and a pokestop has been lost, but it is best to accept that this is the way it is.
There is valuable lesson to be learnt about not trying to make unnecessary changes, and I am confident that you won’t be trying to do this again.
I can understand the deep wish to put things back the way they were but you have to accept that the new position is what it will continue to be.
It would not have been accepted unless the new spot is better than the old one. As in my example where both were accurate. So getting it moved back would by definition be moving it to a worse spot!
It’s just that the “better” is judged as accuracy of the spot it’s representing, NOT in game “function”.
