Hello together,
i tried to nominate a new facade artwork in my city. I’ve called it "Buschi - Der malende Orang Utan", Positioned around 52.286702,8.027614
The Nomination was catched by the AI for “Bad Photo”, most likely because it could not recognize it. I’ve appealed the POI to get a human to view it.
The Colleague in Support deniled the appeal with the reason “3rd Party Photo” which is not true. I took the photo myself and I did not publish it elsewhere.
It would be great If the team can have another look into it, thank you in advance.
If needed I can provide the *.cr2 Files I took that day for the base photos and the GPS Camera JPG File
I understand that the revier could be confused woth the link to the instagram post of the wall art creator. But as you can see in the pictures the weather is not the same, the artist blurred out the commercials, and the people are missing…

There are photos available online that look extremely similar, but I don’t think they’re the same photos
Yeah. As mentioned, I can understand where the confusion comes from. There are not many possibilities to get a good picture of that mural.
These Pictures you posted arent mine or the same.
But again, if needed I can provide the CR2 File I took with my Canon Eos 60D for that submission
Hey together, it’s getting weirder and weirder.
I got a warning mail that I broke the guideline by misplacing the POI. No. It was not misplaced. I want to make that clear and do not understand why I got a warning about that???
Can you post a screenshot of the coordinates from the submission receipt email - they will be below the photographs.
Was it definitely this submission that got the location warning?
I think I found the problem. I remember that I pladlced the pin correctly when I put in the draft. Now the pin is on the wrong site of the street. I think the system pulled the GPS coordinates of a support photo I took from the other site of the street without my notice and I submitted it with the pin on the wrong site of the street.
I accept the warning as I did not check again after uploading the pictures. My bad. Still, I think the POI should be on the map and my picture is not third party.
Learning for me: chech the GPS position after uploading the photos.
Question for scopely: would it be possible to inform the user that the position was updated by photo uploads, or ask the user if he wants to use the GPS info from an photo? Or a option to Lock the set pin?
I’m thinking of situations where I create a draft on a travel day and upload pictures later. The pin will be moved and I cannot correct it as I’m more than 10km away.
I am not sure that a photo can cause the location to move. What can definitely happen is that you can accidentally nudge the map, especially when scrolling.
There is nothing that can be done to prevent this, unless Scopely Explore add an option to “lock/unlock location” (or anything equivalent), so that you can fix the location once you are happy with it.
You just have to check that the location hasn’t accidentally moved.
My understanding of editing the location when you are more than 10km away:
-
if you were within 10km when you set the initial location, that submission is flagged as “within distance” and you can then edit and submit the location even if you move more than 10km away.
-
if you were not within 10km, you can still edit the location, but cannot submit until the “within distance” flag is set.
Uploading the main photo after setting the location will cause the location to change (without alerting the user) to the location in the photo’s exif metadata. This is where the photo was taken, not where the object is.
The pin can move up to 80 metres after the location has been attested and remain valid.
Good grief, I didn’t realise that had been confirmed. That’s about as bad as the problem with moving the pin when scrolling the page.
maybe it is a good thing that there is a problem with it getting data from photos for me on android. i have never had that work.
Oops that’s not good, if the building is big, players need to stand further away to take the picture.
Is there any way this can be be changed, mistakes can be easily made this way.
This explains why I see more misplaced wayspots lately while reviewing.
Is this an issue since the new web upload?
It’s better to add the photos first and set the location after
Yes, although this is contrary to the way drafts are needing to be used when there is low signal. (Make empty draft with just location and title and then upload the images when you have better signal strength).
Is it possible to disable that somehow? If not, it should be. How would this react to photos that don’t have location data enabled? Or as you said, ones taken a short distance away from the actual nomination. Just like removing ingame submissions, this seems poorly thought out.
