Possible wrongful removal of POI

Hello Wayfarer team  I am reaching out in reference to a POI that was removed in Pokemon Go, which I am hoping you will consider reinstating.

  • Wayspot Title: Bike Path Sign
  • Location (lat/lon): 47.382564, 8.486319
  • City: Zurich
  • Country: Switzerland

I did not receive any email or other notice regarding the removal of this POI, but when I opened Pokemon Go last night it was no longer in the game. This was very sad because I had already appealed this POI, as it was rejected upon my nominating it. I would like to include my rejection appeal below, where I explain why I believe this is a great POI that belongs in the game:

“This is a very important and helpful sign for bikers. It shows how to get to 2 different busy destinations in a safe way with bike-friendly paths. The bottom shows how to get to the train station, which allows and encourages bikers to continue their exploration beyond the current area. The top not only shows how to get to the city center (which is a great place to socialize in the public squares, cafes, and restaurants!) but also indicates the direction for bikers to stay on the Mittelländer Hügelroute 84 (which is a beloved bike route that spans multiple cities in Switzerland - great for exercise and fun activity to do with friends!). This useful directional sign for bikers would make for a great wayspot because it promotes exercise (biking) and encourages socializing (following a bike route is a great hobby for groups, and the sign also points to a nice area to meet up with friends!)”

The POI still shows as “accepted” on my Wayfarer contributions page, so I hope you would help in allowing it to be part of Pokemon Go. Thank you for taking the time to review this situation

As for the other sign, this is not an eligible object. It is simply a bike path sign, not a named or numbered trail.

It is an official route:

84

Hey thanks for responding so quickly and explaining everything! I think I have a better understanding now of the types of signs that are and are not eligible. I thought this bike path sign would be ok because it keeps people on Mittelländer Hügelroute 84, which is a specific named path. And I felt that the Bachwiesen directional sign had enough community significance to argue for its eligibility. But I guess those points aren’t enough :frowning:

Yeah that’s why I thought it would be eligible

It is, but maybe some people just thought it was a temporary sticker. But this is a named route, so should be fine.

Yeah it’s annoying that since the sticker’s been torn it makes it look less official and like someone just slapped a sticker onto a sign  maybe @salixsorbus can take this into account? :folded_hands:

We are all just forum members, so we don’t make the decisions, official staff will look at the appeal, we are just here to help.

None of us have any authority to make any adjustments except for staff, who will be clearly identified by their user names beginning with “ScopelyExp”. The rest of us just point out what it looks like to us, so you can make your case better.

I noticed the 84, which looks like it might be a named route, but the condition of this and it looking just like a sticker, meant I discounted this which is probably what Scopely Explore also did. This is quite likely, especially if the wayspot title and description did not reference this route at all.

i would have too, tbh. it looks like something slapped on there, not something official.

it is important to use names and descriptions that contain relevant information.

Agree, but at the official site of this trail, you see that they use the same stickers.

I just checked the route, it looks like the route doesn’t use this street:

According to the map it runs through the Eugen-Huber-Strasse, and not the Rautistrasse, so my guess is that it was removed for being misplaced

Thanks for the appeal, @theverybest5000! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
