Private Property Rejection Help

My understanding of private property is that a Wayspot does not have to be accessible to EVERYONE (i.e. an apartment or gated community pool) as long as it is not on single family residential property. I had a community marina in my city rejected because it is “private property” but the Marina is open to anyone who is a member or has a boat docked there. The Marina entrance is also publicly accessible via our city waterfront promenade. Can i get any clarification on if this submission has a chance of passing, how I can improve, or should it just give up?

You can see a map of our city promenade here: Promenade Information | Baltimore City

The link also explains how even if the property is owned by a private business, pedestrians have the right to use it as an easement to walk along the harbor.

This should be eligible; you should file an appeal if you have one available.

If i do not have any appeals available, is there anything I can do to resubmit that would increase the chances of it passing review ?

I can’t tell if you upgraded this or not. You could try upgrading the next one if you didn’t this one to see if you can get it to different reviewers.

I found this on Google Maps. It looks like Tindeco Wharf may be an apartment building, and this may be an amenity for that? https://www.tindecowharf.com/amenities?utm_source=GBP&utm_medium=organic

You might have better luck framing this as an amenity for the apartment community than as a public property. Common areas for apartment communities are allowed.

Looking at this area on the Wayfarer map, I am not sure which of the two marina entrances you are submitting. One is in an occupied L17 S2 cell and will not be eligible to become a pokestop/gym. The other is in the same cell as this apartment pool, which may be an easier submission for you if your goal is to create Pokestops.

I am not a boat person. I have been informed that this is more like a parking lot for your boat than an amenity that would meet any of the exploration, exercise, or social criteria. Marinas that meet criteria are destinations that people seek out. I would definitely go with the swimming pool rather than the marina.

Try switching your photos. Have the main photo show the walkway and the boats and the supporting show the entrance gate but from farther away so the big “private” sign is less obvious. Add in the supporting info a link to the criteria about how private only refers to houses. On eligibility I usually reference how marinas allow access to boats for water exploration and also are often used as fishing platforms.
