Question regarding rules for Gyms and Power Spots

I learned from this community that if two Wayspots are within 22 meters of each other, one becomes a Power Spot. Also, if there are 6 Pokéstops (or Wayspots) in an S2 L14 cell, 2 Gyms should be created.

However, in the S2 L14 cell where I play, I created 6 Wayspots in total, but because two pairs were within 22 meters of existing ones, 2 of them became Power Spots. As a result, out of the 6 Wayspots, I have 2 Power Spots and 4 Pokéstops.

In this situation, if I create 1 (or 2, since there are 2 Power Spots) more Pokéstop within the cell, will a new Gym be generated?

The gym border actually runs through the middle of the neighborhood you pinned. So you need one more pokestop on the east side to get a gym. Also one more on the west side will make a second gym. Gyms get created based on the number of waypoints that are pokestops and gyms. 2, 6, and 20 are the numbers where gyms get created.

This shows how the level 14 are filling out the small number in the centre is the number of new pokestop or gym needed to create another gym. The second picture is a close up showing the level 17 each greyed out cell counts as 1 towards that gym creation count. Stops that are showcases don’t appear to be able to be selected to be gyms.

I can see that it has been good to create power spots as there is not much around your area. It is rural so you are doing well to find the places that you have so far. If you need help to find and check for wayspots we will happily help.

It is quite the opposite. A wayspot that is in an already occupied L17 cell (small cell) that is at least 22m from any other wayspot it could be added to the Power Spot pool.

Tysm!! I got a few quick questions though (anyone is welcome to jump in and answer if you know!):
1.​For the cell with the blue-highlighted pokéstop, if we add one more pokéstop there, does it turn into a gym?

2.​You said showcase pokéstops can’t become gyms, and the red-highlighted one is a showcase stop. If a new pokéstop gets added to that same S2 L14 cell, will the new stop become the gym instead?

3.​Unrelated to the post, but how do I access/use the map you’re using? I tried searching in Korean but couldn’t find anything that worked.

4.To make a specific PokéStop turn into a Gym, do I just need to like the PokéStop photo in-game or on the Wayfarer app?

1: The image is showing the L14 (large cell). Placing another wayspot in this cell will generate a new Gym but it can not be in the same L17 (small cell) that is already occupied.

2: The system will select a Pokestop to become a Gym from those available. This could be the new wayspot or one of the others.

3: The map used in the standard Wayfarer map with added tools. We are not allowed to link to the tools here but a search for “Wayfarer Tools” should find them including a discord server to ask questions.

4: This was the method but many people believe this has changed and it is Random (or at least partly Random). Staff have stated that doing anything to manipulate which becomes a Gym can be classed as Abuse.

Standard Warning: This is not aimed at the OP or anyone in particular…

Do not use the knowledge of cells to mis-place nominations to try and get them in to the game. You are risking Warnings / Suspensions on both Wayfarer and GAME accounts.

Knowledge of cells should only be used so that you are pre-aware whether a nomination is likely to be a stop / gym or a powerspot.

It can also be used where certain points of interest have more than 1 legitimate location. Example: Sports Field. It is recommended to place at the edge but off the field of play. This could give an option of more than 1 cell.

Once a nomination has been accepted and the location is seen as Acceptable you should not attempt to move it for game purposes. This can also risk your accounts. Location edits should only be attempted when the current location is incorrect. Example: From the field of play to the side.
