Received 30 day suspension for "malicious image" submission

I have just received a 30 day suspension for a “malicious image” in a wayspot submission but I have no idea how this photo of this martial arts dojo is deemed malicious, or goes against standards, even after it was claimed to have been reviewed. Can anyone help on this? This is highly discouraging as an avid player and wayfinder

Usually this is because the photo was stolen from elsewhere on the internet. A quick search does not show any results. Did you take the photo yourself and have not posted it elsewhere before making this nomination?

Correct, I took the photo entirely myself and never posted it anywhere.

Huh. The angle of the photograph may have gotten it rejected for “poor quality, excessive tilt” but it should not have resulted in a warning or ban. We will have to wait for an employee to chime in.

Hello and Welcome,

Hopefully a member of staff (they are identified by having “ScopelyExp” as the first part of there name) will see this and they will send you a DM (Direct Message).

As we head to the weekend there may be a delay so you may have to be patient.

Good Luck

Yeah. I hope that’s all it is and it can be quickly resolved. Thank you!

Got it, thank you. I really hope this can be resolved and appealed.

As we are just players the same as you we can only make suggestions on what the problem could be, this is why @niktero asked about images from other websites (3rd Party Image) as this is a regular reason.

The only recommendation we can make is wait to see what staff say then “be honest”. Staff will have seen evidence before making this decision. Obviously mistakes can happen and we have seen sanctions overturned when this is the case.

You have to give Staff time, I would expect early next week but if no answer by next Friday just add a message stating “Bump”, this will bring it back to the top.

Good Luck.

You have “two” malicious image submission so i think you got warning before for the same thing. Did you got warning before because of using 3rd party image?

I did from a photo I got from online and used it in a submission but it has been quite some time, and I’ve been sure to strictly follow the guidelines since then

And, both of the screenshots here are from the same one. One is just a response to my reply

Did you use AI tools on the photo to clean it up? Like remove people? AI tools can cause the full version photo to register as AI generated. It seems like you would have straightened it if you edited it, but I thought I should mention that as another reason we have seem a photo flagged as malicious iirc.

I did not use any AI tools. The photo is unstraight because I was in a rush and other people were around so I didn’t want to look suspicious. Upon reflection, I probably should have straightened it out

Maybe they thought the photo was a screenshot from Street View

Hey @SchobiWanJacobi ,

We can confirm that the image is taken from a third-party source, and as a result, we stand by our decision.

Thanks,

I’m sorry, but is there anything that could flag my image as 3rd party? Here is a screenshot of the original image details.

Could it be that I might have screenshotted the original image to try and crop it, then used that instead? I found this second image in my photos that is screenshot of the original image

So the screenshot you’ve shared here was taken on August 28th. The image in your other post was taken on August 16th. So the screenshot wasn’t something you took before you submitted the nomination, it was taken afterwards. I suspect it was likely the one you took to share on this post and/or your Reddit post about this nomination.

That image from August 16th appears to be cropped, as that isn’t a particularly standard aspect ratio. Do you have the original uncropped image anywhere?

Would you be willing to throw us a bone here and let us know where the image was originally sourced from? My reverse image searches on Google only turn up this post and the Reddit post that @SchobiWanJacobi made before posting here but after the image was already flagged as abuse (which therefore means it can’t be the reason for it being flagged as abuse).

The image isn’t taken from Google Street View as far as I can tell, as it’s too tilted, the sky doesn’t match, and it’s too low down for Street View (it honestly looks like the photo was taken by accident as the phone was dropped on the floor, and I likely would’ve rejected it for that amount of tilt).

I’m genuinely quite curious given that my searching is turning up blanks here.

I believe I originally submitted it day of, but went back and deleted the photo from my photos after it was rejected. It was a few days later that I received the suspension notice and then I went back through my trash folder in my gallery and saved it again to make the post. I would also like to note that the location is just a few blocks from my house, and it is very easily accessible and easy to take a photo of, and I would therefore have no reason to use someone else’s photo or google street view.

Honestly though, this whole thing is making me really doubt my own recollection of the events, and I’m too tired/busy/stressed as is to keep this going so I’m just going to capitulate and wait out the suspension.

Many thanks for your time and inquiries

great! Could you please provide a video of this location? We will look at the video and reconsider our decision if needed.
