Title of Nomination: Service Point & Orientation Marker at Field Path Entry
Location: 50.559703, 8.893519
City / Country: Reiskirchen, Germany
Description:
This post marks the starting point for local walking and field paths at the edge of the village. It combines local water infrastructure signage with a dog waste station and serves as a reference point for daily walks.
Supplemental Information:
Popular starting point for walkers. Access is safe via the paved agricultural path. The utility sign and dog station are permanent local installations. Additionally, this location is situated directly along an official Hessischen n cycle route (Hessischer Radfernweg), making it a well-frequented path for both cyclists and hikers.
Rejection Reason:
Automatically rejected by Niantic system filter (Wayfarer criteria violation).
Question to the Community:
My appeal for this nomination was rejected. I would like to get feedback on whether any aspect of this installation (utility marker / local orientation point / dog station) could qualify under Wayfarer criteria, or if standard utility posts and waste stations are strictly ineligible.
In my opinion, no. These are just infrastructure. Being near something designed for exercise, exploration, or being social is not the same as being something designed for exercise, exploration, or being social.
Thanks for the explanation! I see your point regarding general infrastructure versus a standalone destination.
Just to clarify the local context: this specific spot actually functions as an established meeting point for local sports groups, joggers, and cyclists before heading out together onto the trails.
In Wayfarer terms, does serving as an active assembly point for sports and group activities add any weight under the exercise/socializing criteria, or would a location like this strictly require an official municipal marker or sign to be considered eligible?
If the group is just using the infrastructure that way, then no. If there is a marking on there that I am not seeing indicating that this is a group gathering point, then you should focus in on that.
For example, our raid group used to meet up at the senior center parking lot in Bond Park. That did not make the parking lot a great place for exercise, exploration, or being social.
Thanks again to everyone for the detailed feedback across my threads!
To give a bit of broader context: all three of my nominations are actually located directly along the exact same regional cycle route (the Hessenradweg R6 corridor). Because this trail is heavily frequented by local cyclists, runners, and hikers, my goal was to highlight various stops and landmarks along this active route.
I now fully understand the distinction: standard infrastructure, custom residential features, or informal gathering spots don’t qualify on their own just by being located along a popular trail, unless they have official plaques, markers, or documented historic status.
Moving forward along the R6, I’ll shift my focus toward official trail markers, informational boards, and dedicated shelters. Appreciate the guidance!
