Reposition or remove a gym in Pokemon Go?

Hi all,

My names Gavin and I contribute making wayfarer points for Pokemon Go primarily as im an active player in my community. Its came to my attention recently that there’s been a near miss with a player running across a large main road in our town centre trying to reach a gym which Ive created by adding more pokestops into the area. Someones walked out into the road thinking it was safe following someone else and it wasn’t. I think it was a quick stop and a beep from a vehicle and nothing else happened situation but could of been much worse.

The gym is a little out of reach from where we play in the centre of town and its a risk as some people can reach the gym from a little island on the road where others can’t so people are running across the road to reach it. As the person who’s created this in a sense i feel somewhat responsible and I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to anyone in my name. I spend my time and efforts making the town a better experience for everyone who plays and i wouldn’t want to know anyone’s got injured.

Ive been away from the game over the last year focusing on my health and work so I’ve not been to many meetups with everyone.

Would it be possible to remove this gym completely from this location? Its the busiest road by far in the central of town and isnt very accessible to most people who play.

Hello Gavin,

As the War memorial still exists there it won’t be removed.

Players are meant to be responsible for their own safety.

If it is a serious problem the property owner Warrington Council ? Can request removal.

There is absolutely no issue with safety at this war memorial. It is a large space with easy access. There is a light-controlled pedestrian crossing right by the memorial.

I’m not so sure I’d say there is “absolutely no issue with safety”. Sure, there’s a crosswalk but do I really believe that’s a safe place to cross?

The sidewalk across the bridge to the northwest of the cenotaph appears to be blocked off.

You’re right that it probably won’t be removed, but it’s not a place I would take a walking raid group to play at!

It is a light-controlled pedestrian crossing. It is unbelievable to say this is an unsafe crossing.
