However, this mural physically exists in reality. The “Fake” designation was a false positive caused by outdated Google Street View data in rural South Korea, which has not been updated for several years.

  2. Official Naver Map Roadview Screenshot (September 2025): Clearly captures the exact same mural on the wall at Buji 1-ri, Naenam-myeon, Gyeongju-si.

[Request for Re-evaluation]

  1. Please review the attached official Korean roadview evidence and void the incorrect May 7 “Fake Submission” warning.
  2. Once the May 7 warning is revoked, my account record reverts to Step 1 (First Warning) rather than Step 2 (Repeated Violation).
  3. Under Niantic’s Enforcement Ladder Policy, I respectfully request that you adjust my account status to Step 1 and lift the 30-day suspension.

Have you followed the procedure in the emails notifying you, and made a formal appeal?

If not you should do so.
Quite often it is helpful to provide a video to help staff assess what is there now.

Otherwise I suggest you wait patiently for a member of the team to co tact you.

Yes, I have already submitted a formal appeal via the web form and support emails (Ticket #43012625). However, it was rejected with generic automated template responses without proper review of the provided official map evidence.

Because the formal support email route yielded automated responses, I posted here in hopes that a Niantic staff member could review the clear Naver Roadview and photo evidence regarding the “부지정미소 벽화” false positive.

I will wait patiently for a Niantic team member to check this thread. Thank you!

Humans always decide the appeals. They do use scripts to post replies, but there is a human behind them. If you wish to share this email with us, it might help us advise you on next steps.

But you can also just wait for a reply from staff, as you said.

The email response I received listed general violation categories (such as low-quality, bullying, and voting rings) rather than addressing the specific Naver Roadview evidence for the mural.

Since I’ve provided the exact roadview evidence and context in this post, I will wait for a Niantic staff member to check the details. Appreciate your input!

This does sound like it is just the acknowledgement email that the appeal was received. Did you get an email that said “Appeal denied”? (You do not need to answer me, I am just curious to know the answer for trying to help others.)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a final update on this thread: A Niantic staff member (@ScopelyExpAaron) reached out via DM and clarified that the decision will be upheld due to the pin location disparity from the actual object.

Since the review is complete, I will accept the 30-day suspension and take extra care with exact pin placements for future submissions.

After a 1 year if you have maintained a clean record, your wayfarer record for sanctions becomes a clean slate again.
