According to the materials disclosed by the parent company of the sensitive military research institute, the 726 Institute (i.e., Shanghai Ship Electronic Equipment Research Institute) operates as a classified entity with strict confidentiality qualifications(“ 保密资格

单位”). Therefore, activities such as gaming or photography within its premises carry the risk of being deemed illegal, making it unsuitable as a Wayspot.

In that case, it is the responsibility of the owner of the land (the government) to request Niantic remove wayspots. It is not any player’s responsibility to police access to government facilities.

Otherwise players are violating U.S. regulations.

You keep referring to a U.S. trade restriction list that makes entities added to it subject to commercial export control, and does nothing of what you mention, and certainly isn’t connected to any Wayfarer criteria or doesn’t warrant any “exceptions”. Final moderatorial reminder to please stay on topic and not to spread misinformation. [Entity List - Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entity_List)

Your statement is overly irresponsible. Niantic’s Wayspot guidelines emphasize safe pedestrian access and rely on the community for submission and review. Your claim that issues with such portals should be addressed by government oversight undermines the value of the community.
If you believe the community has “no responsibility” to request removals, then why bother wasting time in this community at all?

. In China, the Law on Guarding State Secrets (《保密法》2024) deems unauthorized entry to such areas illegal, risking 3-7 years’ imprisonment under Criminal Law Articles 398 or 282. Players must report such Wayspots via Wayfarer to prevent legal violations.

Thanks for the appeal, @luvletter We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
