Should I submit multiple tree plaques?

Assuming the plaques I had in mind were eligible, if I saw several in a row with close proximity, should I submit the plaques or should I just submit 1, or submit a group as 1 submission?

What are these plaques like exactly?
Memorial plaques or good information plaques or simple name plaques.

It looks like this one. Some of the Concillors / Mayors have passed away, which I haven’t really focused on in my existing submission, just on the plaque itself.

I dont see this as eligible really. Seems like selfish credit for a good deed that doesn’t necessarily need to be recognized.

Remember that proof of the significance of the person this memorialized has to be provided, just like with memorial benches:

So, if you can provide links to anything that proves the importance of the person to the community, that may help, but it’s still not guaranteed that it’ll be approved.

They’re not even memorials, the trees were planted while they were in office.

It doesn ā€˜t matter what these are called. What matters is, that even with additional info and context, they’ll be a hard sell.

I have some wayspots near me that are exactly like this - ā€œplantedā€ by the mayor/mayoress. I have also submitted a couple which were accepted. It may depend on the local reviewers as to whether they are acceptable by now, but they are not definites.

This sort of thing is not that uncommon in the U.K. The reviewers here will be familiar with plaques like this being about significant people.

Councillors will often be invited to a tree planting ( or the like) to mark a local event / improvement scheme as part of their role as a councillor- part of the job if you like. So there may well be one for each of the notable people present.

If the plaque mentioned the specific event then I would consider it, but I would not being looking to submit each one as it would be one plaque about the one event.
Without any information about the underlying event I would say it is not significant enough as it stands.

I know some of the Councillors have passed away, so I don’t know if the plaques are installed as a memorial to them or they were genuinely planted by them. I am probably more inclined now to submit further if there was a significant backstory for the Councillor.

I would start virtual digging ( not real diggingšŸ˜‚) about the trees and the time frame. It might be a newer plaque updating an original when planted and info on the individual.
There is a rabbit hole waiting for you.

I’ll put my shovel back in the shed in that case…. :grimacing:

I had a tree plaque accepted, but that was planted by royalty. I guess it does depend on the notability of the person doing the planting, just like benches.

It says the tree was planted by the person… I dont think they came back from the dead to plan a tree that’s as old as the time they were in office.

Considering the height and age of the tree and when the tree was planted based on the plaque, I have questions in my head over the sincerity of whether it was genuinely planted when it says it was planted. But I could second guess myself until the end of time.
